@someonesomewhere
if yer coding this in flash with little game dev experience, might i suggest flixel.
it's a great flash game engine that's designed for pixel games. might help give yew some code ideas
at the least ;D

and i dont know what yer using to do the code. but if yer cheap, flashdevelop is
and awesome free flash compiler with all kinds of great code hinting. it flushes out the API code for
yew, so it's easier to learn.

one flash dev thing i will suggest. use embed .png files whenever you can. flash handles them the fastest,
especially when your animating stuff.

Check your soldering job on the switch contacts and if they seem fine, try a new switch.

i redid the soldering a few times. and i tried 3 different switches as well.

TmTgr wrote:

Does it work when you start it in half speed mode?

yes.
when the switch is "on" and i boot it, it's 1/2 speed.
but if i flip the switch when it's on/off it stays in 1/2 speed.
but if it touch the switch, on or off, it works.

i tired wiring the two sides together (which makes no sense) and it's always 1/2 speed.
but those are the two points i touch to make it work.

btw, the underclock sounds soooo goooood

hey all,
so i was doing the underclock mod for the first time this weekend. i used this tutorial:
http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/361/h … ble-clock/

i got everything wired up, and powered the gameboy on.
normal speed. i toggled the switch, nothing...

then, probably by total accident, i touched 2 of the 3 contacts on the switch.
all of a sudden, it's running in 1/2 speed. WEIRD!

i did this test over and over, i rewired the circuit 3 times, and i tired using 3 switches
(2 of them were rockers and the other a mini-toggle).

anyone heard of this type of thing before?
it's like the circuit is working, but doesnt have the power to actually switch on it's own.
it needs my body's electricity.

for now, i just wired the 1/2 speed crystal in place, but id still like to get the switch
working. any suggestions are welcome.

thanx in advance.

@Xero, who's your friend?

@sander,
i just read on gloom's blog
that yew did the original theme and the graphics for it.

nice work! i really enjoyed this demo.

i'v know ralph and mr.doob for a while now (online only).
ralph has helped me with flash more times than i can count.

Sander von Focus wrote:

@Xero, ah nice! Are you a demoscener yourself?

HA! I WISH! ;D
i'm a huge fan of the scene, and i'v been to a few parties...
i have been working on a new real-time flash audio visualizer,
but the beat detection is not going very well tongue

@Xero, who's your friend?

Edit: Lol @ the breakthrough performance nomination for Area Unstable.. We are quite a seasoned team.

That's an awesome flash demo, great graphics Sander!
However, which parts are pre-rendered? I son't know if some of the effects here can be attained with realtime AS, but I'm a noob on the latest AS technology. Tell us a bit more! (particularly that green polyhedron that gets bubbly warping on it. If that's realtime, Flash got awesome).

@Sander
my friend's name is ralph hauwert aka unitzeroone.
he's one of the core team members of papervision3D which is a realtime 3D engine for flash.

@akira^8GB
if yew dl the demo from pouet - there's one SWF and one FLV. i think the flv is the only prerendered part (not 100% sure on that one).
ralph is crazy with the particle engines + shaders. he's done some amazing real time shaders in flash already waterball +waterball2.
(these demos are user interactive, move the mouse on the sphere to activate the effect)
and YES! the green polyhedron is real time!

there is a demo scene for flash, but it's still in it's infancy... flashscene.org
even the bombsquad/evoflash demo group is moving into flash territory...
when they first released adhdtv i was blown away!
also, evoflash uses away3D for flash (another flash 3D engine)

right. clones usually have MUCH cheaper sound chips, so they sound totally different.

no prob.

zen cart is really easy to configure, and stylize (template files).
their wiki is pretty nice. i like this visual overview page.

it's been around for a while, so there's lots of 3rd party extensions that have been made.

and according to this page zen cart has partnered w/ paypal, to make the user experience as seamless as possible.

paypal shopping cart

i guess that came out after i coded my own DIY one, lulz!
but like i said above, it's really simple + straight forward
to make yer own... edited earlier post to reflect this.

basically "your account" is just an email address.
when you submit a sale to paypal there's just a few fields, including your email,
the amount being charged, etc... (other stuff is optional, like exactly what your selling)

after that (checkout from yer site to paypal) the user has a few choices:
- pay with their existing paypal account (which could be credit/debit cards, band accounts, etc)
- make a new paypal account
- or just use a credit card.

my boss on an old project was suspect that people would use the 3rd option, and didnt
want to force his clients to signup. seeing the reports from paypal, 99% of his customers
used the 3rd option of just using their card. they just enter the number, and if necessary
the address to send the item(s) to.

code wise,
there is a native paypal shopping cart, but yew can just use the API like i did. yer website handles all the shopping cart stuff,
then yew just submit that info to paypal when they checkout.

if yew'd like more info, or some sample code (php), feel free to PM me ;D

on that note, there's lots of free / open source shopping cart solutions out there...

personally, i have only ever used cube cart, agora cart, and zen cart.
all three of which were nice. but i usually like to code everything from scratch, that's what im payed for ;D

hope that helps...
