You should all be ashamed that the thread has gone this far without ONE mention of this:

with sleep mode, the psp start time is irrelevant.

Well....

depending on how many MIDI channels you want/need.... and how soon you need to get rolling....

LSDJ MIDI out is likely gonna see the light of day soonish.  Then all you'd need is an arduinoboy.

Just sayin'.

Also, I chatted w/ Marc briefly the other day and caanoo MIDI isn't as easy as we might have thought, but it still does look more promising than all the other options right now.

And that is exactly what I said is possible with mGB. Using it as a MONOPHONIC (1 SEQ CHANNEL), 4OSC instrument out of the GameBoy. But OP insists it's not what he said. Weird huh.

Part of the allure of making music using the Game Boy is portability.  Your solution would not fit in my pocket.

SHIIIITTTTT!!!!!!

Is there a way to smoothly downsample without copying a bunch of instruments?

Not yet, but it's "on the list."

Reading the dingux blog, it looks like that there's a very good chance there will be an official native firmware update that slaps dingux on this thing... and possibly the old a320, too.

If people make something awesome with it and don't let it play straight once, it will be a redeeming moment for that shit.  wink

The reason this could be great is because you would be able to make very complex instruments that utilize all four channels of sound capability that the gameboy has.

I, too, love me some one channel action.

One of the samples should have been Chuck D from "Public Enemy No. 1" saying "ONE!"

Yeah, as Peter Venkman once said "it's more of a guideline than a rule."

OK, I copy/pasted those rules.  Here's the B.Leo wording:

Toss that folder into LGPT aka piggytracker.  Commit yourself to ONE sample in the pack, delete the rest.  Using only the magical powers of the pig, make some instruments using only that ONE sample as the sound source.  Lots can be done.  After the song is recorded/rendered, you may very gently master the final mix.

Here's a song I made a few years back that used only a Casio sk-1 kick as the sound source:

I really had no idea what I was doing at the time, but I tweaked and tweaked until I got some sweet sounds!

And in case you didn't know, the wiki is your friend:

Final rule: DON'T PUSS OUT!
