i'll get some photos tonight

use both pulse channels w/ tables using transpose & pulsewidth, some vibrato for resonance warble
use one channel for the attack + one for body of the note (alternating even depending on characteristics)
play w/ pulsewidths etc and you can get a more interesting acid sound than with the wave channel but sacrificing the same high resonance it can get

the closest would be the midibox FM synth which is based on the opl3... http://ucapps.de/midibox_fm.html & http://ucapps.de/mbhp_opl3.html

the minimal build would be a mbhp core module and the opl3 module + power, kits for core modules and the bare opl3 pcb are both available here. http://www.midibox-shop.com/buy.html combined that with a midi editor and you've got a standalone fm synth for cheap smile

oh a CHIPTUNE netlabel? fuck that

take fashionproof, mp3death, dramacore, and some other crap off your list then

the piggy->midi boxes probably don't have midi power pins connected

firestarter circuit has +5v on pin 4 as per midi spec... however IIRC certain versions of the gp2x only supply 3.3v but I may be wrong.
