blitz lunar 2013

if you look over this thread, I am not the only person to supposedly "misinterpret" the intent (though I reckon I haven't, "hate everything" is a recurring theme!)

if one's concerned about not being understood properly, maybe make a better effort to articulate your points in a way that will be understood, rather than writing pseudo-cryptic nonsense all over the internet and then sulking when someone doesn't get it.

How about we skip a year whining about chipmusic instead?

btw this is the best post

stop liking what I don't like

i think we should all use drugs and write chip music together.

eriko imura cannot be faulted. klonoa games and wagyan paradise is some of the best.
i also like hosoe, saso and aihara's fusion style work, like dragon saber, street fighter EX series, driving emotion type-S, various other things

not as keen on the techno stuff that prevalent in ridge racer, but it's still not bad.

yep, i think is the best way to do it. one FTM and passed from hand to hand, WITH TIME LIMITATION, so dont take to long.

this is the reason NSF collision is still going on. had it not used a shared FTM then it would have been completed ages ago. that and it's nice if people can use their own instruments and stuff, for more personalised songs. so one FTM just isn't practical in that sense. hopefully implementation won't be a problem with everyone having separate FTMs though. an-cat-max seems confident enough :J

Back in the day Alex Mauer and Animal Style worked on putting together a cart comp on the 2a03.org forums but it vaporized:

indeed. in fact, i think i will submit the tune i made for that project to this one, if there's no objections. i was disappointed with how that project collapsed.

MisfitChris that's the method I would use, yeah. though with earthbound, making sure you have every unique sample from across all songs is what takes the most time. if you play each tune in spctool for one loop, the samples it uses will light up white (rather than unused light grey.) then you can highlight-export those ones. the problem is many songs use the same samples, so you have to keep track of which ones you've already ripped, else you'll end up with tonnes of redundant samples. long story short it's a big job to do properly.

as for arranging into a soundfont, it's not necessary, it's just something i like to do to make the sounds more universally accessible and "hassle-free."

I'm thinking about making one smile it will be a big/ambitious project. I can't think of a SNES game that would be harder to collect and organise all the samples for. I figure if Earthbound is possible, any other SNES game should be =p it's nice to know that there is demand for one though~
