If you use high intensity LEDs, you may want to figure out some way to spread the light so you don't have a point source that blinds the viewer.

I remember seeing Kitsch saying something about diffusion film for a speaker grill light mod. Could probably work similarly here.

Here's my current disorganized setup, at least until I move out of my current apartment.
It's all just kind of thrown on my girlfriend's desk, because my roommates are kind of shady people, and my gear is less likely to get stolen at her place.

I'm saving up for some kind of rack to organize everything-

Giving this a download once I get my computer back! Hope the volume 1 implies future comps!

Does firestarter's interface work with it?

I haven't read Outliers, but I have read This is your Brain on Music, which takes that concept and changes it to say that You need to spend 10,000 hours on something in order to be considered a master. I think there's a big leap between good, great, and masterful. While it may take 100 songs to be a master, does this mean that we shouldn't show anyone anything before we're a master? If we do this we neglect other elements of being a musician, elements that might be argued as not important for writing music, but for getting that music heard- such as showmanship and self promotion skills.

That being said there are a lot of reasons to make a release, one of them could be to get into a scene, but I think a lot of us would agree that that's not always the best decision. For my first release I forced myself to finish 5 songs because I never finish anything. I wanted those 5 songs to be complete so I could show friends and family what I did, and have something to show promoters if I wanted to book shows. Writing music, though I honor it as an art form, has always been intensely fun for me, and I don't want to ruin that fun by practicing it in secret until I write the perfect album.

What the hell did I just watch?

Thanks, I'll give that a try!

I'm running the pig on a GP2x and I'm having trouble figuring out midi out, I made the text file that the manual mentioned, and midi is set to GP2x serial, but I can't figure out how to get to the midi instrument screen.

any help would be appreciated

I'd buy a shirt, if it wasn't from Zazzle or cafe press

Didn't do anything, I'm starting to wonder if either certain pins on the arduino aren't working, or maybe the Opto Iso got damaged somehow.

I've tried both 270 and 220 ohm resistors

It seems like information is at least making it to the gameboy, as it gets annoyed when I switch sync modes.

You should just have the one light on when it is connected to the gameboy. Are you running it off the +V line on the gameboy link? I would check your connections to the midi socket and that you have the proper wires connected for the link cable. My drawing is 3D for both those components and what you see is what you would see of you were holding it in front of your face. Made more sense to me like that. So check to make sure you're wired up correctly there. Also, we may be able to help a little more if you have some pictures

Thanks a lot

I'm running it off of USB power, because I don't have a DMG 7, just a DMG 4 cable without the 5V pin.

I've messed with the max patch and it says the arduino is disconnected

Here's two views of the breadboard, It's really sloppy

In the first picture there are two red wires with one end detached from the board, that's a my temporary momentary switch until I get one.

I'm fairly certain I've gotten all the parts on the board properly, if a little difficult to follow.

The lights light up fine, but only when changing modes, and when it boots up.

I'm going to check to be sure I uploaded the program properly
