I thought this was going to be about this.
Maybe i should pay more attention or stop looking only at recent posts.

Thanks for keeping linux users in mind.
Easiest to install are the all in one units with polarizer and resistor "built in". My personal favorite is the density ones. I don't feel i have to be as careful, plus you don't have to cut the plastic around the lcd (which really isn't hard to do). I also like that I can easily change or replace wires.
"Best" for visibility is probably going to be the EL panels. I have never used these.
(good memories swapping carts)
I have some of those. I have many more where I had to fight the cart and console to play. I suppose those are good too.
it seems the retrozone NES cartridge cases have been discontinued.
Yep, this one.
I used a bunch decades ago, and I think I had hands on the max a couple times, I remember not wanting to use it. I prefer the original, but the dogbone is ok. The advantage is good at times.
edit: I just wanted to add that the person who owned the max didn't seem to use it.
Finger twitched when clicking. Double post.
You might find someone willing to part with just the case/shell, but it might be easier and cheaper to buy the complete unit you want, as it will already be what you are looking for.
Looks really interesting! I'll definitely be checking it out when it comes to Android.
I seem to remember this exact topic being discussed and a fix explained in the last few weeks. i think it is lsdj going into power save mode or something. No time to look right now, but you can do a search.
I have wanted a c64 or 2 and cynthcart and/or mssiah. I have been considering cynthcart for years since i was pleased with the original (synthcart) i have used off and on for almost a decade.
When you get your rig up and running will we get a review of cynthcart?
I have long loved his music. Based on his website he uses cynthcart, nanoloop 1.3, 1.5 and lsdj (as well as other stuff). I am pretty sure he is using cynthcart here.
I felt the same way and just picked up another EMS. I still consider a drag n derp when i have the money, but it is more convenient for me to have a bunch of software (including games) in one place. Also that money can be better used on my other projects atm.
there might be other SD based game boy/color carts on the way. I think I recall 2 others were considering or already working on them.
Edit: I think they were kitsch and DaRkO
The point of the review is to limit the discussion to that item. Arguments can be saved for other threads.
A major benefit for me would be finding that someone had messed with some of the stuff I want to do (or would want to do if I knew about it).
For example I bought an HP 100LX and plan on eventually using it for music. I am thinking Monotone or something. If someone had tried something like this before, then posted even a simple review, it would save me a lot of time knowing what not to do and what is worth trying. A sticky review request thread would be cool too.
