Yes there are a few trackers that support both iirc.
What comes to mind is oracle, and maybe meridian.
As for scc: there are a couple of trackers for it but i never
played around with it ( dont have an scc cart).
I think there was a nice one made about 2 years ago.
I wouldnt see the point in a turboR or msx2+ either
just for the fmpac. I prefer the music module (Opl)
due to the 16 custom voices. Fmpac only has 1, and 15
presets. So its always 1 custom fmpac voice that can play
as a standalone, all other voices played simultaneously would
have to be presets then.
The nice thing is having both fmpac and music module play custom
voices togethet, you can get very good fm leads that sound fat,
crisp and filtery.
As for moonsound (opl4): this cartridge is a scene developed extra,
manufactured by sunrise. Long sample playback and 4 operator fm
and bells & whistles. Moonblaster wave is the commonly used
tracker for it.
Ill upload a sneak prev soon for a new compilation,
so it gives a good idea of what you can do with msx fm.
Msx is by far the easiest way if you wanna composefm on a real 8 bit machine.
Pcs even read the 3,5" floppies since ms dos and msx dos are virtually
the same. Msx basic is by microsoft, so that explains.

Oh yeah i still need to put more ram into my msx2 if i want
to run oracle. That tracker seems to be very good but takes quite
some memory

must say 8bc has a slightly easier "your posts" button to keep track of what you posted, not your own post but the topic is displayed in a more easy way I think. sometimes. yeah.

well, that definitely sounds like MML haha smile nice and funky !
Does it allow you to program that 1 custom voice as well ?
If it does, you may want to find out if the music module (+modification)
is of any use. There's mod for it now that will let you use it in basic, a function
the music module doesn't normally have, but the fm pac does. (call fmpac
in basic). The upside of the music module is 16 programmable voices instead
of 1.

Julian's advice is equally helpful FoR someone who starts up.Let's also keep in mind his 10+ years of experience ;D
Usually the newbie VJ is fooled into thinking they need a shit ton of hardware/software crap to begin with and this is a load of crap.
The content is king and is what gives you the edge (read: Enso, a new kid on the block, but already turning heads thanks to good content), so people should focus in content production.

Yeah kudo's to Enso indeed, I like the guy's animation skills (wish I had them). It's just that more and more stuff starts looking (or sounding)
like everyone else, and usually software can be a deciding factor in it. Stuff sounding the same since everyone using the glitch vst for instance, or all using the same after effects effect. Instead I think the individual should find their own way and not pay too much attention
to what's being offered. The last thing you want are people veejjaying with a lot of manga or star wars or street fighter 2 stuff wink

there are a lot of msx composers, most of them seem to be from Holland. some msx composers:

wolf
jorito
meits
dan dan
low profile
demonseed
naruto
the guys from bandwagon (demogroup)

p.s. shitloads of unfinished and half finished and finished stuff on the msx,
I should put something out sometime maybe.

And everyone and their mom can download vj software from a torrent site,

That's not going to stop me from trying to help people who are learning.

Agreed, me neither. Just saying that people shouldn't be mislead by software or hardware,
but find something unique instead. Way too often (and this is not just the case with visuals but
with music too), people think that having a program like ableton guarantees quality.
In the end as you know it all comes down to what you do with it. As some old guy who was running
our artschool's equipment service said: it's not about 2d or 3d, but about idea.
Cracks me up still, and all too true wink

as for trying to help people, I've been giving loads of workshops and lectures for the past 10 years,
in Holland and abroad, teaching kids in school and organized 3 vj battles in Holland the past decade,
so I think that's a fair contribution to the scene. And too bad that I couldn't give them for blip, I've offered
it every time.
