Wait, was this played during the Codex thing? Wow... deja vu... I think I had the same reaction that time, too... wow...

I had totally forgotten. I was wondering why it felt so familiar...

Uuuuungh... It feels like I'm being compreeessed through a tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuubee in outerspace in slow motion... O.O

I'm floating. I'm floating. And I'm not even closing my eyes

I really look forward to what his final all-gameboy album will sound like.

It's generally a large-point Impact font in white with a black stroke on the text.

You can do this in photoshop's blending options for the text layer.

I'm too lazy to read your post. And I use GIMP.

This is really great.

Let's give a round of applause to the man. This was the best interview I've read in a long time.

...and we’re just going to play music we enjoy. And it’s not going to be 100% chip. I think there will be some stuff that’s 100%, but then there’s going to be some stuff that just [has some 8-bit sounds] mixed in.

Way to stay progressive. "Adulterated" chiptune seems to be very much accepted in the scene nowadays. I don't think there's a whole lot of peer pressure to stay 100% chip these days, from what I've seen.

I’m sure there’s a bunch of new names and stuff of people that are doing great things.

I certainly hope so.

damn. i was sort of expecting a thread about low-gain's interview with geekparty!!

Well, you got about 2 pages out of five...

I'm looking forward to the next part where they talk about low-gain again.

Really, though. That truly is a beautiful image. It really touched me for real. I do that with my ukulele all the time. It's just... the relationship between the nature and the electronics, and how they are just coming together to form one beautiful harmonious coexistence... it's just beautiful.

I didn't want to post it here in order to avoid redundancy. Also, I thought it might seem disrespectful (which is the opposite of what it's supposed to be).

*Looks up*

Aw... man... >_>

edit: image removed. Had second thoughts...

the freeboy color plugin for lmms has a built-in treble and bass eq knob. Fakebit ftw. Just make sure you use a sound degrading filter on the wole thing, cuz the stock sound is too smooth.

edit: oh, this is about volume, not eq.

you only have 3 volume chhoices, right? Maybe you could just make it to loud, then when you get to your big speakers, llower it to 2 or 1 as needed?

Awesome job, man.

Huh, the part about the lyrics got me thinking... and I realize... this kind of reminds me of a more serious They Might Be Giants.

What kind of band? Not that I live anywhere near there, but I'm sure people would want to know.

Ah, I see. The drums were treated in a special way. smile.

Yeah, I would say there's definitely a big leap between this and CS, I can see how it would take some getting used to, especially since nothing has been released in the interim (certainly a regret of mine); also, I love anyone who ever compares my stuff to The Beatles in any small way.  The drums on Southern Accent are entirely GB, WAV and noise recorded into seperate tracks, not much done to the noise, but the WAV was compressed/gated/distorted/EQed/slapbacked like crazy. Like Victory Road was saying, I think the key to making a sequenced drum part feel real is to pretend that you're playing them and put in things that you would play (or at least would WANT to play) and variation is the biggest thing. A real drummer would rarely play the same identical fill twice or play every bar the same, a little variation goes a long way.  Also, tambourine makes everything better, always.

Thanks so much to everyone who's purchased the album, the reception has been really lovely.

So true. That's always been my target when it comes to sequencing drums. I get that. But the compression/gating/distortion/EQuing/slapback really brought it out in an awesome way. Man... that's just...

Thanks for the insight! big_smile
