Ukulele is still cool to me even though Train came out with "Hey Soul Sister" and Tiny Tim existed. Any underground scene that wants greater recognition and gets it is inevitably going to have to weather this storm.

Edit: Also, what is "lazy vocals"? The average vocals I've heard in chiptune weren't any less lazy than anything in a comparable mainstream pop/rock/metal/hip-hop song. Subject matter is pretty much the same, melodic style is pretty standard. Being able to hold a note for more than 0.5s without having to do intense meditation =/= laziness.

Edit edit: Also, of course there are shining exceptions to the standard in all cases.

Chainsaw, have you tried running piggy with pasuspender, eg. "pasuspender ./lgpt" ?

Nope, but I loaded the 10k test project and it worked fine, stock standard without using any fancy command line arguments!
Again, Runnign on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise, stock standard installation literally installed yesterday and never used 'til now. It's just using stock default audio drivers! Sketch, what kinda set-up are you running again?

Ubuntu 10.04. No JACK. pulseaudio.

I like it. It's very dramatic and seems to tell a story.

The guys at #hexawe said pulseaudio is probably messing everything up. I'm kind of hesitant to uninstall it, though...

I think I'm using Pulse... I think ALSA is in there somewhere... Uh... this linux thing is too much for me when getting into more 'in-depth' stuff. sad

I now have a new problem: No sound. Are there any special Ubuntu requirements that I should know about?

Oh snap ur totally right! It's the perfect design for throwing down some sweet d-pad riffage and killer sweeps.

No. Never. Chiptunes are supposed to be bite-sized. I should be able to fit at least 20 into an 8 ounce bag.

No, but seriously, it would be cool to learn how to roll out some massive tortillas. I'm definitely into it.

Import Battery File doesn't exist on the Mac version, apparently. This whole thing is very silly. It should work with just dragging and dropping it into the appropriate "battery save" folder.

So... if the spacewoman represents the gameboy light, and the alien represents the cartridge, then...

Wow Nintendo.

I unzipped lgpt_DEB and ran the program, but it can't seem to find any of the project files, and I get a message "can't load samplelib" when I try to load a sample. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

At least the config.xml works. Used it to remap the keyboard and double the screen size.

Edit: asked on the irc, and found out the linux distro was archived with the wrong file structure. The bin directory was missing so the lgpt_deb.exe was located in the root directory of the program instead of the bin directory.

In the true DiY Linux spirit, I had to create the bin directory myself and toss the executable and my config.xml file into it. =\

Linux can never just be "that easy", can it? Even if it's false difficulty, it's got to cause some headaches, lol.

I enjoyed this.

YES! PLEASE. YES! This would be the best thing ever. I can't stand the tracker system (though it's starting to grow on me), and the piano roll interface of FLStudio and LMMS and Sound Club make me compose stuff in a weird way.

Of course, it would be cool if you could create it with the option to switch between staff interface and piano roll interface, though, but at least having just the sheet music interface would be just toooo guuuud.

As for suggestions, it'd be cool to be able to control the order of each note in an arp-"chord", perhaps with a little number on the side of each note, and maybe control the speed with a number underneath the staff. Effects could be handled "horizontal tracker" style, with an effects bar running along the top of the staff.

Really cool idea tho I wouldn't be able to use it since I don't read music smile

Sheet music's actually surprisingly easy to learn.

Here yuh go.

Thanks. I usually don't download releases without any kind of streaming preview, but I did with this one because the art was cool.

I listened to it backwards, apparently =S

It was great. big_smile

I also thought it by be cool to be able to change the tempo while the samples looped.

you mean the pitch? There's no tempo in this program!
That being said, I'll give it a go smile

Changing the "speed" would affect the pitch and the tempo, right?

@The Silph Scope: That'd be awesome.
