I'd offer you some of my old midis, but...

Though this style of hip-hop is not my preference,  I've always been in love with that melodic kick-bass stuff. This music somehow reminds me of the works of Makoto Tomozawa (specifically his work in MML and MML2), and for that heart heart heart. And super heart for having MELODY in this stuff.

Love the fake-outs and false build-ups.

IAMMMMW is my fav. Sounds like something that'd be in an awesome 3d animated film. Or an artsy platforming game. Or just anything. Left me wanting more

5 out of 8 closed threads were closed because people kept bumping them with silliness.

That's the thing. If it's such a useless thread, just ignore it and let it slip off the front page. But everybody has to get their two cents in. I've personally decided to let all the older members handle that from now on. If all the new members did that, we could probably cut down on hyper-active-bad-threads by at least 1/3.

Edit: Looking at that and Frostbytes post, it seems like an off-topic board would be worth testing.

Eh, not really. At least not in my prior experience.

Eh... I've experienced it. But my experience level is probably lower than yours. But... it's not pretty when it happens.

Theory: You can usually tell when people aren't reporting because you see lots of posts saying "This thread needs to be closed".

Am I right?

Between this thread, the shutting thread and the love thread... this has been the most surreal forum experience ever for me.

Since it seems that so many people here use SoundCloud, it'd be kinda cool if a [soundcloud] tag could be added to the forum so that members could embed their SoundCloud songs directly into their posts as outlined in this blog post http://blog.soundcloud.com/2009/07/28/s … d-bb-code/

And on that note: Frostbyte you are cool people. Your encouragement and your music have been a great inspiration to me, and you certainly know how to put on a killer webshow big_smile. It's nice to be one of your "classmates", even if I'm just the guy who walks up to the group like "Hahaha...... What're we laughing about....?" "..." It's still great to watch all the cool kids being cool. big_smile

Much love to all the guys who've called me out on various things: Saskrotch, AndrewKilpatrick, and the others, and especially Auxcide, who's gentle prodding led me to release some of my stuff.

This chip community is one of the most patient I've seen in regards to putting up with nubbishness. Heart.

Don't know everybody here very well, but this is how I feel.

Victory Road is just a cool guy. Everything I see from VR exudes coolness. And he even recorded himself playing didgeridoo for my didge+chip thread big_smile.

Oh also, awesome accent.

I'm not sure if this actually counts as chiptune because I don't know if the sounds were actually sampled from or intended to emulate retro sound chips, but it was made with trackers and does contain LOTS of chippy sounds, intentional or not. This experimental 2007 Freshman release comes from an online friend of mine that I met on a forum several years ago. I don't think it's gotten much by way of publicity, so I figured I'd post it here because I like it.

From the artist:
"My moody electronica EP. Everything was made with ModPlug Tracker/OpenMPT and VST plug-ins." -Litis

Keywords: electronica; electronic; music; rock; ambient; dark; instrumental
Stream and Download - http://archive.org/details/ABreezeFromHell

Track List:
1. Prisoner
2. A Breeze from Hell
3. Tunnels and Open Skies
4. Close Them and Never Open
5. As Time Flows
6. Falling Down
7. Sane Again
8. Help Me Cry

The musical stylings are as varied as the track titles. From contemplative chordings to synthetic metal riffing, from disturbing ear-shattering noises to a chip-concerto harking back to the days of Vivaldi (and maybe an homage to a popular duo of electronic artists?). It all comes together to tell the story of a man who has escaped his prison, but finds that freedom might be overrated...

What will be his fate?

Edit: I currently do not have contact with the artist.

Sometimes it's better to just ignore those threads and let them die and fall off the front page, report them (for the non-anarchists), or PM the offenders, instead of everybody constantly bumping a silly thread just to say that the thread is silly.

I sincerely bumped a thread unnecessarily with unnecessary information that had already been posted, Saskrotch called me out on it, and thankfully it ended up dying without leaving the first page with only a few snarky redundant responses.

I can personally attest to the fact that directly PMing a person about a conflict helps a whole lot more than airing dirty laundry out in public.

This is beautiful. This really has made my day.

Hm. I just noticed "Church Music" coincides with what I was thinking during the ending of "Spring Semester".

It seems like the uC forums would be more active if the homepage led to the forums instead of to the music section. Also, the italicized "recent posts" section on the side doesn't exactly draw the eye or make a person want to click those links.

That would just make it the same as this site though, why would anyone want 2 news oriented chipmusic sites.

It's the line between chipmusic and 8bc that made them so different.

MUSIC(8BC) | FORUMS(CM.O)

In fact being led to a forum section makes it less inviting imo. Specially if the forum is blank half the time. Being shown a music page just shows that anyone can post. It's way more inviting, it's more lively.

Yeah, that's true. I can see the appeal. They do need something big to set them apart from 8bc. Maybe a SoundCloud embed BBCode? Hm. Maybe I should go over there and talk about this stuff, come to think of it.
