Does this mean you can't handle the awesome? Or its bad? I'm a bit slow...

I like the intensity and abrasiveness on an intellectual level, but my body can't take too much of it. But that's just me, I'm sure. So... no, it's not that it's bad. Just really intense and grating in a good way, but one that causes me internal pain after awhile. lol Maybe I'm not the best person to comment on this type of music, haha. But I feel guilty if I don't say "I like" something that I like, tho...

ARGh! I KNEW I should have bought that game when I saw it at Wal-Mart all those years ago... sad

Megaman. I can't really explain why, but I just think he's cool. I've always felt a bond with him, since I was, like, 7 years old.

Google led me to the GIMP site which says that "None" under "Interpolation" equals Photoshop's "Nearest Neighbor":

I'll let you Google the paint.net one <):'p

Oh, that makes sense. Thanks for doing the leg-work for me. I was just about to google it, too. I assume it's the same for Paint.Net.

I am thinking about grabbing some screenshots of my favorite NES games / moments and blowing them up to print and frame them. Anyone done this? Also what would be the best way to do this? I know NES screen shots from emulators are teeny tiny.

What emulator / file format / upscaling technique should I use to make sure the quality stays nice and crisp?

heart<3<3

Take a screenshot in Nestopia (the shortcut is ALT+E) and resize in 200% increments (200, 400, 800, 1600, ∞) in Photoshop using the "Nearest Neighbor" algorithm. The output size of the enlarged screenshot will be tied to 200% increments, but this technique will guarantee crisp and square pixels. You can always extend the canvas size in the end if you're aiming to mount the print in a, say, 18"x24" frame. Just keep an eye on the newly calculated image size numbers that way you'll know when to stop enlarging the screenshot.

Do you know the Paint.Net and GIMP equivalents of the "Nearest Neighbor" algorithm, perchance?

That looks so shady.

I didn't use google, I own a repro of the cartridge. I collect nes games. I have an account on Nintendoage.

On a side note, I forgot to mention my love for the game sqoon

I'm sorry, I was sort of joking. The wink emoticon didn't bring that across properly. It just sounded so much like a list of facts gleaned from a google search I couldn't resist.

Nestopia is the best NES emulator I've used.

Please don't try to school me on earthbound, the game is called earthbound and was for the NES. it was produced by nintendo. There are 4 prototypes of the game, and the game was finished. an unreleased game still holds its name. It gots its street name of earthbound zero from the fam community to distinguish it from the snes version. earthbound is mother one, earthbound The war against gigyas is mother 2. earthbound zero was a Rom hack of the prototype Rom that fixed a few typos. the second version of zero got rid of the anti piracy checks that the initial title screen hack and typo fixes caused.

Plus, it's just a game.

Oh cool, Google is my friend too! wink

Some more games: Batman, Time Lord, Journey To Silius (hard hard HARD game), Darkwing Duck, Super Mario Bros. 1-3, and Star Tropics II just for the first stage theme song alone. I never got passed that part, lol.

Ah man. I almost forgot about this. Hopefully I'll be able to tune in.

Wait, was this 12 at night or 12 in the afternoon ?_?

Seriously, though. The next time I go snowboarding or finally buy SSX for Xbox360, this will be my soundtrack big_smile.

Man... I tell... somebody needs to make a film or something with these releases that have been popping up lately... But, really, they're so good I'm seeing images in my head just listening to them. I don't even need to go snowboarding.

IRT Holmes: Thanks! That means a lot to me. IRT F.K:. The build-up and end were composed after the rest of it had been done, so that must mean I'm improving big_smile.

you're not supposed to connect the Smart Card to the computer while it's in the Gameboy.

Hm. Bumping this to ask a related question that I don't think requires a separate topic. Does anyone know of any Gameboy game soundtracks that made heavy use (abuse?) of WAVE channel manipulation like many LSDJ users (LSDJs?) do? Like, most of what I've heard in the games I've played was NES triangle bass emulation. Not a whole lot of technical stuff going on in the Wave channel.

hrm, from what i understand lsdj use pretty much the whole cpu for music. you wouldnt put lsdj music in a game i think. game music is simpler because the gamebooy has to do other things at the same time. well that's what i think anyway  i might be wrong

Hm, that explains the lack of arps alot of the 8bit video game music.
