theres a uniform? no one told me

Hypothetical. Metaphorical. Bleh. I wasn't even referring to chipmusic "scene". Just "scenes" with traditionally distinctive clothing articles involved, e.g. dude ranch scene, corporate scene, homeless scene, farmer scene, cyber goth scene, etc..

If the guy is trying to figure out what's what, clothing, whether you like it or not, is something that should at least be taken into account, even if to simply determine that it doesn't matter. Clothes have a deep history of being significant, after all. Can't deny such a rich heritage of mattering.

Oh come on you guys, stop acting like you really don't get it, lol. The fact that you acknowledge crossover exists means that obviously there is at least a little bit of significance to clothing, even if it doesn't "really matter" that much. Nobody is going to

Clothes matter in some way, no matter how "enlightened" you as an individual are. Clothes still matter in some way or another. The crowd ain't going to snub you for not dressing in Class A uniform, but that doesn't mean the uniform doesn't mean anything at all to anybody.

This is a study. Ask all the questions you can.

Wow nice big_smile

American Thanksgiving is an oft-glossed over holiday sandwiched between the Tag-team of Halloween and Christmas. The media barely gives it a nod, though it is highly appreciated as an excuse for devouring large quantities of delicious food. It seems to be the least commercialized holiday of the holiday season and emphasizes thankfulness for what you have rather than getting stuff from people. It is also rooted in the clever usage of limited resources to bring forth produce that seemed impossible to those unaware of the potential powers of fish buried underground and what-not... *ahem*

Thinking about it, there seems to be some kind of linkage between Thanksgiving music and chipmusic  Just look at this bit of trivia about the 1848 Thanksgiving hit "Simple Gifts":

In 1982, "Simple Gifts" was used as the background music track for the "Smurf: Rescue In Gargamels Castle" video game for the Colecovision and Atari 2600 systems.

Wow! Thanksgiving music in an Atari game that isn't even holiday themed! O.O
And see here as the Dutch hymn "We Gather Together" embraces the punk side of chipmusic with such a rebellious title:

At the time the hymn was written, the Dutch were engaged in a war of national liberation against the Catholic King Philip II of Spain. "Wilt heden nu treden," "We gather together" resonated because under the Spanish King, Dutch Protestants were forbidden to gather for worship.

In your FACE, Phil!

And let's not forget how Christmas stole the Thanksgiving tunes "Over The River And Through The Woods" and "One Horse Open Sleigh". I feel a witch-hunt coming on...

Let's make that special Thursday in November a Happy Chipsgiving this year.

Thank you,

Maybe I'll organize a Thanksgiving compo, except, what thanksgiving songs are there? None immediately come to mind for me.

Over the River and Through the Woods! and Jingle Bells!
Edit: SEEEE????

"Jingle Bells" is one of the best-known[1] and commonly sung[2] American Christmas songs in the world. It was written by James Lord Pierpont (1822–1893) and published under the title "One Horse Open Sleigh" in the autumn of 1857. Even though it is now associated with the Christmas and holiday season, it was actually originally written to be sung for American Thanksgiving.[3][4]

Sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread.

I don't know what it was. I made something in Sound Club NT with arps and called it "chiptune" years ago. But before that I made a midi and put an NES soundfont on it. Does that count? Who even keeps track of that stuff?

Dude this fusion of styles is killing me in a good way. I don't always video game remixes, but when I do... wait what am I saying? I love video game music. Chipmusic almost made me forget that ...

I love the ska elements. Augh. I love ska, and it fits so well with this. Thanks.
