e.s.c: yeah

The funny thing is that the OP only made 2 posts in this thread. I don't know how much of what's been said is intended to as a response to something thedimitry, but most of it seems to be pretending OP said things that other people appear to have implied, lol.

I don't like chiptune. I don't hate it but I don't enjoy listening to it. I'm only here for the Game Boy related hardware projects and mods. Is there anybody else in my situation?

Like... OP literally just asked if other people like the hardware mods and not the music. That's like... it. They never said they expected this or that or the other, lol.

There's nothing wrong with hanging out in a forum where a vast percentage of the content is about something you don't enjoy. It probably would have been best to keep it to yourself, though. Don't listen to the people saying "why are you coming to a forum about music when you don't like the music even though you like another aspect of the forum?". If one had to like everything musical about this forum in order to be eligible for taking part in it, I think their probably would not be many people left here.

it's not as if he's complaining about the fact that there is music in this community, or sayijng "why are there so many music threads? I need more gear modding threads get that music out of here!". He just wanted to know if there was anyone else here who was interested in the gear modding only and not so much into the music. There's no need to be offended and defensive about it just because somebody doesn't like what you like (the music). I know it feels like a slap in the face to have someone come up and make a thread like this, but I mean... if this place meets his needs for console modding discussion, then why drive him away just because he doesn't like the music part of it? He's not making any demands of the community to stop with the music.

To the OP: I'd recommend that you not be so vocal about your opinions of the sounds that are produced from these old consoles and computers. The question they should be asking, rather than "why come to a MUSIC forum if you don't actually like the music this forum is based around?" they should be asking "why would you just come out and say you don't like chipmusic at a chipmusic forum?"

Nope. Not seeing any value in modding for non-creative use.

modding IS a creative use

I don't know how you'd go about doing that but I'd guess it might involve the Zxx command.

Playing games in the dark, artistic expression, game-play modification, profit, etc. There's lots of things you can do with a modded gameboy besides making music with it. Like... a good amount of the mods don't directly affect the music that comes out anyway. A better question is why would you bother modifying the appearance of old consoles for musical purposes, lol. Of course there are plenty of mods that do affect the music, yes.

This is so interesting. Sometimes it reminds me of Feryl, sometimes Brother Android, sometimes others... (haven't gone through the whole thing). I think I like it.

Edit: The long sustain on the backbeats on "Island" works really well with that slow style. I like that one.

how about nihilist pirate punks "FITTS For Fight" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynnOq6G29Io they are like female anamaguchi with less guitars less talent and less scruples. b ut i like them

http://nl_hq.micromusic.net/stolengoods/ in case they don't teach you kids this in highschool any more.

Also, because if you like the music part of their music (not the words part) you can find the artists responsible for it.

Note the use of the words "pirate", "less talent" and "less scruples". Pretty sure anybody who even knows their name knows what they are known for, you know?

It's the vocal parts that make the "FITTS For Fight" name even mean anything. The original music that they stole is great, but i really wish they could have done something themselves or got somebody to work with and became a legitimate thing. sad

Haha for a second there I thought that was an "Ataricordion", lol

^If not for their lack of scruples, I actually kind of like their style, if the truth must be told... >_>

Ah the caffeinated unce. Oh wait there are some rhythms in this big_smile

There is a good variety of ideas and stuff but the repetition on some of the tracks is kind of killing it for me ;( But then again, I'm just not a huge fan of hyperactive stuff in general (there are exceptions of course), so maybe I'm not one to say anything, hehe.

I was just starting to enjoy "Old Friends" and then it ended sad

The constant non-syncopated arpeggios (not arps) on almost every track gets tiring after awhile (no breathing room), Many of those tracks could use a good noise kick at the times when the pulse/wav noise is not present, in my opinion. (check out the bitman's tutorial at noisechannel.org :3).

I enjoyed the 40 minute challenge one a good bit. better than what I could do in just 40 minutes smile And I really like some of the ideas you have going.

That artwork is really nice.

like holy shit why would you even ask this question are you serious

what the fuck genres do you listen to where there's a certain style of clothing associated with them without a doubt

I am serious, but I seriously can't believe some people find this question offensive.

Because it's contrived and you are attempting to contrive a set uniform and dress code instead of just letting people be themselves and letting it evolve naturally from people interacting with each other. Plus chipmusic is so multifaceted in styles and genres that you can't just throw everybody under the same blanket.

Ideally a person who listens to chipmusic should be wearing the clothes that he or she is wearing when listening to chipmusic.
