Not too bad of an idea. If you wanted it permanently variable you would need two pots. One for left one for right sound. Can't jump both with one or you get mono sound

Well I would guess the capacitors serve as some kind of compressor

Well that is true but what would be the practical application? I never keep something panned completely to one side unless I have dueling leads

I posted it here first as most people on CM seem to be more technically savy and don't have the tendency to turn every post into a troll fest.

That being said, I'll post on 8bc as well just because I think the information may be helpful.

I saw a post a while back that linked to http://authspot.com/thoughts/dmg-01-bass-mod/

Basically he suggests removing 2 capacitors from the board to increase the bass output. Well I never heard much from the community after this post and I wanted to try it out and see how it sounded.

Had some spare time last night to try it out as well as capture the results in an mp3 so you can judge for yourself if it is worth it.

Posted both the what I did and the results on my blog. Here are the links to the articles:

I'll be happy to try out anything people suggest as well. Didn't have as much time as I would have liked to mess around with this.

I hope it's not strictly trackers :-P using midines over here

Still gotta set some time aside and get a track done

Not like anyone else was gonna use beepola for their track :-P

here comes a new challenger!

Just got the essentials up and running on my comp again so i should be good to go on the next one

1. Record volume up
2. Add a little volume in EQ
3. Add a little volume in compressor
4. Crank it with a brick wall limiter

Play a song in the background while setting your volume. If you can't hear your song it's not loud enough

Ugh, I remember how tough it was as a kid. Carrying spare batteries in my hands, holding onto the link cable incase a friend dropped by, constantly having the power adapted plugged in so if batteries were running low I wouldn't waste time, as well as having to carry my games in my mouth. I didn't remember carrying a second power chord in my pocket that didn't connect to the gameboy though. I totally cannot relate to this in any way.

Update: I found a solution to my issue.

Problem: Windows 98 reading a CD burned in XP as an audio CD with a single track Track01.cda (The track doesn't even play. What a shitty musician I am. T_T wah wah)

Reason: Windows XP writes "Live File System" CDs but Windows 98 reads "Mastered" (A more universal format) CDs. Live File System came after Mastered therefore my Thinkpad has no idea what is going on, hence the confusion.

Solution: Windows Vista/7 allow for CD formatting changes so you can write Mastered CDs for use in older systems.

Now I won't need a zip drive or to connect via COM port. Just need to borrow my girlfriends laptop. Thanks again for the immediate help and for the offer Jefftheworld!

from a previous thread i started when i had trouble xfering files to my old thinkpad. i saw you were running win95 but this may be why your RW discs dont pop up?

ah misread your original post. my apologies. check the solder points on the back pcb. make sure none are touching/running into each other. im at a loss otherwise

Well, seeing as you had attached 2 separate front pcbs to the back i would assume the problem lies in the back pcb itself. even though the sound can come out of the headphones jack it doesnt mean that it is being transferred to the front pcb properly. One way to test this theory would be to hook up the front pcb that came with your new DMG to the back pcb of your other one. see if the speaker works then. i am willing to bet that it does

200bpm isn't fast enough. 1/16th notes only at 400bpm
