the funny thing about shame_boy: besides the admitted awful cover art, a good release that i actually enjoy

Yeah, sort of easier to give a pass on pre-2008 or so track titles..

the 802s are the cat's meow. i have the eurorack 802 (i got it because it was cheaper than the xenyx 802 at the time, and the only difference is color) and i highly recommend it.

the EQs and preamps are also different, if i remember correctly... used to own both at one point

stfu downstate

sounds very cool.... i may try this to raise some cash for more video software and gear, give donors access to password protected content on vimeo

I'm looking at this:

The USB out should let me record each channel separately into my DAW right? Can anyone clarify on that?

I don't think there's a USB mixer on the market that allows you to record each channel separately. The all only do a stereo mix. If you want something that does multitrack, you gotta go firewire. Like this: http://www.mackie.com/products/onyx820i/

brady is, naturally, correct...i have an 820i, and can recommend it pretty highly.. the eqs are nice, even sweepable mids on two channels... option to send individual tracks either pre or post eq...

and ive used pedals with chip stuff for years, on and off, works pretty well with distortions and delays (or octave pedals if you want that super low frequency action)

you should probably have a descriptive thread title and embed the video using bbcode

In a way, it's always like a paranoia, I mean no one on this forum invented chiptune...

It's easy to forget how small chipmusic still is and how relatively new as an artform it is.  The "inventors" of chiptune as distinct from pure game soundtracks or cracktros are still very much around and even on this forum.  Even 2nd and 3rd generation artists like the micromusic.net or 8bp crew (and contemporaries) are still very close to the source and obviously still active and relevant.  Annnd... I guess that's all I have to say about that.

Truth.. I sure didn't invent it, but when you're talking about a scene that's approx 30 years old and we have people on this site who have been doing it for ten, fifteen, twenty years that's damn close enough to the source to maybe be a little protective of our already horribly misrepresented and misunderstood scene (mario at a rave, all nerds, all about nostalgia, covers, remixes, no girls around, , all happy/danceable music, etc)...

Oh, and now looks like the machinist and I will be doing visuals too

could just be using the ipad running some video mixing software or an NES emulator, which would really help create the clips themselves (only had 30 seconds of the video load for me so i cant say for certain).. either way, very NES-like visuals

my hunch would be that its a custom NES rom, best things to look into along those lines that are a little easier to get into are glitchnes, scrollnes, logones, NESflix, etc ... http://www.no-carrier.com/
no carrier has solid documentation on how to get your own graphics into the nes roms, which you can run off an emulator or using a powerpak/eeprom cart on the original hardware

if you can post links to the videos you are most interested in, i can probably give you a far better answer as to what is going on hardware/software-wise

Most visuals aren't "random", and are being controlled by a real person more or less
