One of the more interesting methods of promotion I've seen recently is making compilation CDRs (which feature music by the artists performing at the given show) to hand out, or to leave at local record stores as freebies. It might take a little bit of time to burn a hundred or so discs, but in the end doesn't really end up costing that much. Even if the person who picks up the disc doesn't end up at the show, both the artists appearing on the comp and the scene as a whole get exposure.

It makes me laugh that this turned into a mosh-hating thread. (I wasn't overly impressed by the mosh, it felt like moshing for moshing's sake and made me not want to be near the front for fear that I'd get an elbow to the eye.) I thought I'd actually give my reflections on blip as someone who probably wouldn't have travelled half way around the world to go if it hadn't been a dream come true for Celsius (don't get me wrong though, I loved it)

Favourite moment... Any time I got to watch any of the Aussies do their thing (10K, Ctrix, Maddest Kings Alive at the open mic and little-scale (who might I add, played IMHO the best set I've ever seen him do, and I've seen a few) at blip) Purely because even though I'd seen them all do it before, this was at blip, baby and that made it special. Also 50% of the crowd getting up on stage (mostly shirtless) at the end of Bit Shifter's set was pretty cool smile Hanging out outside in the snow smoking was pretty cool too, just the novelty of it.

Fave performers. I can't narrow them down to one but standouts for me. Eat Rabbit, Je Deviens DJ en 3 Jour, Patric Catani, David Sugar, Glomag, Bit Shifter, J Arthur Keenes Band. Oh, and Rosa had my fave visuals.

I certainly did not party the hardest, nor did I puke. I did have an awesome time though and was up til at least 3 am every day for a week hehe. Not sure whether we'll make it back this year - it's an expensive trip- but would like to do it again some day (and see some more of New York, not just mostly Brooklyn) and get some of the people we met out here for shows.

These kinds of stories motivate me to start saving for next year's fest. smile

I wonder if chip music will be popular enough by then so that mainstream media will be in attendance. Blipfest '10 sponsored by MTV?

I got the full soundtrack a while back. It's even better in it's entirety.

The first album released under the title D-pad is easily one of my favorite albums of last year. If for any reason you guys haven't heard it, you should contact Spamtron and ask him for a copy.

I just got an XBOX a couple of weeks ago. Going through all of the older games. Crackdown is pretty fun. My tag is Crystal Labs.

I love how much attention the crowd surfing and moshing got this year. Must have been pretty intense.

MGS4 did have way too many cutscenes, but I recon it's one of the best games ever.  I love all that sneaking around.  On the other hand, MGS online sucks in my opinion, it just turns MGS into every-other-shooter-ever neutral

I thought the online sneaking missions were pretty fun. I played during the beta, and for about 6 after release and had a blast. Once all of the expansions came out, things started to take a strange turn... like wearing alligator hats. Maybe I'll give it another crack.

I know that Blip Fest 09 is totally old news, but I was kind of curious to hear experiences from both performers and attendees about this year's event. I've never been fortunate enough to attend Blip Fest, but hear nothing but amazing things. Been seeing ample coverage this year, just wanted to hear about cool stuff that the media passed over.

Favorite moment? Favorite performer? Who partied the hardest? Did you puke?

Also, been noticing some artists providing their full sets via outlets such as FMA. Any of the performers who frequent these boards have their full sets available?

This album is insanely good. I love how it follows a narrative and feels so well put together. More concept albums, please!
