Dude, you might want to make sure you're getting the right stuff for your project. I'm not sure what it is, it could be some kind of art thing where you really don't need the consoles to be working, but talking from personal experience, having a bunch of dead shit lying around for the sake of having it around is not a good idea

It's funny because I'm only 14, I could have been on there and pulled out a backlight and modded it right then and there and been like, welcome to the future.  All the little kids need to buy a gameboy and get their phones taken away.

I think it's better if kids can appreciate where the tech they used came from, how it's changed over the years

Damn, it seems like NitroTracker is a LOT more capable than I thought it is. Thanks for these incredible beats guys! Also heart the aesthetic and idea behind Dead-Blip Records. Will you be taking submissions/demos for possible releases? What are the criteria?
SICKdopeRADbossNICEincredibleBRILLIANT

DeadBlip Records is open, and currently accepting demos for artists who would like to release music with us. Send a track or two (two is preferred) of your work to deadbliprecords[at]gmail[dot]com, and tell us a little bit about yourself as well! As for specifics about releasing under different creative commons licenses, this will be at the discretion of the artist.
In the future, there are ideas for more compilations, featuring artists who have released with us (or will) and others as well. The idea is to try and help new artists in any way we can, put out some good music, and try and build a little community for beginners to thrive together.

We will hopefully have a website up within a month or two with a bit more info up on it. In the mean time, all questions will be answered in emails!

[DB001]Nitrotracker Compilation

As some of you may be aware, a month or so ago Xuriik thought up the bright idea of a Nitrotracker awareness compilation, and a month later, here it is. To quote the bandcamp;

Nitrotracker Compilation wrote:

The Nitrotracker Compilation is a short but sweet selection of music made using Nitrotracker, a brilliant bit of opensource software for writing .XMs on the NDS. This Compilation came around as a way to try and get more people aware of this great tracker, and maybe get some more devs interested in expanding, and making it even better.
All money made by this album will be forwarded to the developer!

All .XMs written will be included in the download!

It also seconds as a start to a new Netlabel I'm kicking off, one for new artists who want to get out there, to showcase the best of new artists.

Anyway, hope you guys enjoy!

Damn it, Photobucket.
My pics are down because my bandwidth limit has been exceeded.
Stand by: images should return shortly.

(I remember the last time this happened, I had to start a whole new build thread... this one)

maybe switch over to using imgur instead of photobucket?

I would venture that if this dude did a remaster of the lsdj stock samples and offered the kits for free as a promo for his commercial sample pack, it would be cool with everyone.

yeah, but then the question is what other stuff has he sampled from for his for money sample pack?

Thanks for that mature response. I am surprised to find trollish behaviour on a forum I thought would be welcoming and supportive.

Sorry mate, I'll rephrase my post. In my opinion, sampling the LSDJ kits, and selling them commercially is, for lack of a better word, a "dick move"
I'm all for free samples, the chip scene already has ready access to many samples, from as far back as the atari 2600 (and even further) and making a pack like this would be redundant.
It's also damaging to the scene. One of the great things about us is that we aren't really big on buying stuff that isn't gear, there are masses of places to get good samples, without paying a single penny.
Also, there's the ethical issue, but that's kinda double standards-y for me to get into, my main problem is the fact that that you're selling access to samples.

Wait, you guys are joking, right? I can understand saying that the UI isn't for you - personally it's not my favourite but I know people who love it - but you guys are saying that your issue with DefleMask is that there's a picture of a mask?

seconding this, I have no real problem with the UI, I don't mind the face, and the loadup noise isn't annoying because when I have it open, it'll be for hours

or would be if i could use it, as I've said my beef is with the pattern editor

It's a very incomplete list. It's missing at least 3/4 of the active chip artists in Oregon. We need an updated, local, and maintained list.

yeah, but it's a good starting place. The annoying thing is that it's just over a year old, yet it's not being updated anymore.

I never really got into deflemask for 1 reason, I really don't like the pattern editor. It looks... strange, I don't know how to put it, but it looks off. And, the thing that I really, really couldn't deal with when it came to writing was the timings when you paused a song, the way it would go past the point that you paused it at, and the way that deflemask followed the line(thing) made it a bit tedious to write tracks with,

The whole open source/ closed source thing doesn't bother me because i wouldn't be able to do anything with it anyway, but I'm all for sharing source files, and I guess people have done some pretty neat things with famitracker, due to it being open source.
