there hasnt been a post reminding nitro of the demand for this in almost two weeks

If you havent heard Comptroller's amazing album then you really need to, I didnt end up finding out about it until wayyyy after it had sold out. if anyone has a copy that they're wiling to part with, then hmu with a quote. There are only 15, so i know is v optimistic of me, but i thought itd be worth asking

I'd be very interested in beta testing this, i think im going to be checking this thread on a p much daily basis now

Hi, you may have seen me dotting around the forums/ or on other sites some time over the past 2 or so years. In this time I've written very little music that I was happy with it, this album is a collection of some tunes that (at the time) I thought were good enough to be put out, but never were. These are all from around this point last year, but I would really love to get some feedback on all of these songs, to see what people like and dislike about tunes that I've grown to hate over this past year.

Any feedback is welcome, positive or negative, as long as it's well reasoned.

some of my favourite modules are ones that quite literally only me and the person who wrote them have heard, which makes sharing them a little bit of a problem

Let me elaborate: you should have zero confidence in a developer who sells you a product that can't even achieve proper tuning:

Thanks for posting that. I didn't see it before.
Looks like an easy fix, but probably not for the everyday user. Still a pretty unforgivable mistake.

thread's reminded me of a good question, did you ever reverse engineer midines in the end? you mentioned it a while ago when people were bashing it and xlk in general

I'm surprised the scene is still around.

you keep dissapearing for 2+ years at a time so i kinda just assumed you didnt really exist anymore

but yeah on topic, chiptune has managed to live for a fair amount of time. If you're talking short term, chip will be fine, teenagers will keep finding "skrillex 8 bit version" videos on youtube and then go deeper. If you're talking long term, we'll all be dead before chiptune is so its not like it matters really. In the end everything that we've written will be lost, and thats okay.

Sucking at something is the first step to being kinda good at something. You get experience by just doing shit and not worrying about if it's good or not. Have fun, you've got years ahead of you to worry about being good.

At 15 I picked up a piece of shit guitar from someone's attic and sat with a goddamn guitar on my lap almost continuously for the next 4-5 years. Best decision of my life.

what this guy said p much

write music, and listen to other peoples music to see what they do, and how they do it, im quite a visual learner, so i really love running nsfs through that pluggin that lets you see what notes are being played. Explore music as much as you can, write different genres, and never limit yourself

LSDJ and Nitrotracker aren't quite comparable, other than both being portable. Nitrotracker is sample based, but it's pretty decent for getting basic song ideas down

this is as close as i get to posting things when they aren't warrented, but here's a collection of tracks written in nitrotracker, this should be able to help you gauge what you can do with it, and weather or not it'll be useful for you

It's not uncommon for me to put 10-20 hours into a song

okay for real if this is considered an above average amount of time to spend on a song i'm officially super embarrassed about how long it takes me me to write tracks that can't even come close to yours

quote for truth

like 4 actual songs, loads and loads of half finished or "ideas" of songs though, like 20ish of them

music takes time, everything takes time, its just about how much time you feel is worth investing into something. One thing s to try and make sure that you aren't just doing the same wrong thing again and agian, if you feel you are, then try and analyse what it is about your tracks that isnt like other tracks you like, what is it that you're doing wrong, or that your tracks lack.

don't worry about doing things really fast though, think about bands as well, most bands take about 4 years to write their first album, and that's why its so good.
