Hello CM.O!

My names Dan and I've been listening to chipmusic for sometime now a few of my favourite artists are Saberpulse, Anamanaguchi, FTFX (older stuff) and Shirobon. I've looked into making chipmusic myself a few times but thought it looked difficult so never really bothered to seek out the bits I needed until this week I realised I could run the LSDJ rom on my 3DS flash cart (duh!) since then I've bought myself 2 DMG-01s off ebay and I'll be getting myself a 64mb usb cart next week so I can really get into it.

I'm hoping to learn how to make propper chipmusic and not the rubbish I'm coming up with at the moment!

Also a big shout out to nitropulse from instagram who pointed me in the direction of this website

Thanks
Dan

Hi Dan! Welcome to cm.o! Love your username. If you have a DS and a flashcart, I HIGHLY recommend nitrotracker! Get the program, get some sample packs, read through the documentation, and get tracking. Some guys on this site recently made a kickass little album which you should give a listen, download and pick apart the source files to get a better understanding of the workflow. If you stick around and give this website a chance, you will learn A LOT about composing/recording/performing and meet some pretty good people.

AND they expect you to pay for shipping? For that price I want it delivered by a BJ-giving unicorn (it might hurt, but will be majestic as fuck).

On-topic Squillos!!!! It's the Nutella of cereal. I don't know if it's available outside of South Africa, so maybe you can't have any tongue If I remember correctly, the Reese's cereal is also pretty awesome (can't get it in South Africa or Korea sad ).

Double sided tape, the thin plastic type. Scotch brand has one called "Scrapbooking Tape". If one layer isn't quite doing the trick, double it up. It holds pretty well and can be removed pretty easily. Done.

It's Pocket Music! A couple of people on here are familiar with it. I think it sounds crap and is VERY limited compared to LSDJ/nanoloop, and don't like it too much. Go steal a rom somewhere and try it out for yourself.

Hey now, don't be mean. Everybody gets love at some stage, Earth's population wouldn't be what it is if ONLY attractive people had sex.

Mark Salud is the bomb! Instantly Magic! He will seduce your mother and have your father bow down to him! Then he will change color, pixel fade and everybody will be pregnant. Tracker + playing the keyboard live, this man is NOBODY's bitch!

Read the manual! Copy+paste is not always the same as cloning. Read the manual! If you copy the contents of one phrase into a NEW phrase, you can change whatever you want. Also, READ THE MANUAL!!!!!

Damn, it seems like NitroTracker is a LOT more capable than I thought it is. Thanks for these incredible beats guys! Also heart the aesthetic and idea behind Dead-Blip Records. Will you be taking submissions/demos for possible releases? What are the criteria?

This is a fucking DOPE build man! Loving EVERY picture you're posting. Wow, people on instagram can be whiny pussies!

I uploaded an ORIGINAL noise composition (my own sounds, my own everything, spent a long time "writing") to soundcloud a while back, received some copyright request bullshit, saw the stacks of red tape and decided "fuck it, I'm not doing this for anybody other than myself, I don't have to prove dick" and deleted my soundcloud and bandcamp accounts. Yet, SOME people can blatantly steal others work, sell it on amazon for couple of years and the "industry" does NOTHING. To hell with the music industry, and fuck internet greed. From now on I'm releasing on home copied cassette or CDR only, and distributing by hand.
Sorry for the rant, it's been brewing for a while and I had to get it out. This was the perfect thread for that, so THANK YOU, I guess.

I LOVE Deflemask! I've only used it for Genesis stuff though, will DEFINITELY check out what the c64 engine can do. I really don't understand the general negativity towards the program, it's pretty stable and sounds fantastic.
