I like what everyone is doing in this thread. Flappy bird is totally rad!

I am always excited to see new stuff for the GB.

Kitsch - I've been having similar problems with the PM box. I've deleted enough to get/keep it working but pretty soon I think I'm going to run out of space again then I'll have to do a serious amount of copy/pasting to keep all the important stuff. I wonder if the moderators can do something about it and maybe give senior members a little more space to work with?

as a moderator, i can assure you that we can't do a darn thing about the functionality of the site (no moderator can).  we don't have the access.  this would be up to trash80 or nitro2k01 to adjust, they are the site admins.

and, its sorely needed from the feedback i get.

maybe you all can push a little to get that sort of change to happen wink  we operate on a near-consensus basis internally, and most suggestions just die because of it, sadly.  if the guys on the top aren't on-board, it simply doesn't get done.

so, pressure them wink  this suggestion is falling on deaf ears, atm

Yes and maybe. If you got a Plastic enclosed PROM, it could be filed down to size. If you use a UV EPROM, then it really couldn't be.
If Kitsch would release the other carts I designed for him, that would be certain to fit in a shell and more easy to make, but he quit talking to me and I don't know why. sad

not at all wink  we're good

i've more or less dropped off the chip social planet for the moment, due to life stuff.  and some traveling/moving

this.  a dremel also works wonders.

i'd personally suggest building as many kits as you can, rather than buy all your modules prebuilt (sure, not all modules are available for sDIY, but likewise many DIY modules aren't available prebuilt).  you will save a lot of money this way and learn a great deal about electronics in the process.  especially how to calibrate/tune with a scope.  which is a golden skill.

also, group buys!  seek out the group buy section of whatever forum you are lurking around.  there is probably someone arranging a PCB run of some whacky something.  a few notable module makers got started doing this very thing (fonitronik comes to mind)

i've found electro-music.com to be a good place for group buys and such in the past.

http://electro-music.com/forum/

there are a surprising amount of modular people on this forum.  i missed out on your questions, but you could get some very good advice from folks here.  who innately understand your chip background as well.

but, yes, in full agreement on the money aspect of this.  it can snowball very quickly.  quite addictive.

there is a really huge secondhand market for modules and they generally hold their value well if you keep them in good condition.  at least there is that, haha.  they are good 'investments', as it were...

I think limitbreak had issues.

pretty sure thats because the boards themselves (not the programmer) were not stocked until a little later, and were shipped when they arrived.  the website said this, at least when I placed my order (which I'm assuming was at the same time, because we all seemed to learn of the products from yogi's thread on them and a few of us freaked and ordered right away).

I had the same 'issue'.  Programmer arrived pretty immediately (within the week), cart PCB came about a month+ later.  but, it said all this on the site at the time, so wasn't really an issue or bad shipping policy or anything, just perhaps an oversight if people didn't read the full product description text.  which (from my experience with KB) seems to happen more often than you'd think.

I'll take Reformat the Planet DVD if its available!

PM'ing now

I would suggest you first capture the sounds you want the synth to produce, and then do lots of interface investigations to determine how you want your instrument to be played.

kinda sorta (cart slot), and kinda sorta (clock sync)...

wink

well.  yes, and yes, but probably not the way you are envisioning...

i absolutely love being this cryptic.  sorry guys.  but, really....  its quite thrilling.

in all honesty though, all the functional features of the original console will be present as long as they are still relevant, but perhaps adjusted to make sense in the new environment (like line levels mentioned before, just for the easiest example).

i was in the SDIY world before i ever got in to chip, but this was prior to the eurocrack pandemic, so that is really paying off with some very minor adjustments (it was overwhelmingly MOTM, modcan/cynthia, and dot.com when I was building regularly, DIY eurorack was pretty uncommon).  learning the new sizing/layout schemes has been the biggest hiccup, partially because of rushing the projects a bit too much prior to moogfest, but thats easily resolved.

yes.  i want this.  i got my order in a bit early...

how should we contact you?

or:  matt (aatt) kitsch-bent (ddoott) com

also, i'm so excited!  been sitting on my hands patiently for III big_smile

have looked into it, but budget is a little tight.  if you can grab them from alibaba or some such, i'd suggest doing that atm.  there are more important things coming up that require the monies
