!!! it may not be trashed....

ribbon cables and all that jazz are ultimately applied in the manufacturing process with heat in some form, and you can try to replicate this and repair it.

same idea as fixing vertical lines in a dmg screen...

so, if you feel comfortable (not much to lose, right) check it out and with your soldering iron see if you can reapply any places that may have lifted up.

and, if you are successful, please post and let us know smile

e-mailed wink

pressure to the ribbon wouldn't cause it.

a tear where the ribbon meets the pcb would.  prolly done when taking the polarization film off...

its probably either that the customs feels the value was declared wrong, it wasn't marked as a gift and the duties collection process wasn't carried out, all the contents weren't listed, or there wasn't enough postage.

that would be my guess...

make sure canada post isn't striking in the area.  i had issues with this a while back re: vancouver...

also, make sure the address is written correctly.

apart from that, you shouldn't have had an issue.

i'm a little curious is the supposed increased security on packages will slow things down for a little bit.  i doubt it though.  the volume is just too much...

yo, i replied to your disqus post...

but, to post here...  its more than likely the screws are just too tight around the buttons.  if not that, the only other way i can think the buttons could be messed up would be if the ribbon cable holding the two halves together was stressed or broken somehow.

if you are on 64bit machines, you've got to be in test mode and have digitally signed the drivers through the DSEO software...

on 32bit machines, or 64bit, for that matter...  if the install doesn't go right, or something is malfunctioning, go to 'devices and printers'.  if the cart is plugged in and working right, it will appear as funtional here.  if there is anything wrong with the driver install, you'll get an error in this section.  don't bother troubleshooting it or auto-fixing anything....  its all got the be done by hand.

so, first is to uninstall the drivers from the device.  unplug the cart and everything.  then, open dseo and go into test mode (if you already aren't).  and, restart your comp.  next, digitally sign the files you need.  and, again, restart your comp.  then, plug in the cart and do the manual install.

my first install of the drivers went pretty smoothly after i got off my dell XPS (these machines, 400 series dell's in general, have issues running some drivers it seems).  but, i deleted my files accidently, and the reinstall i had to do a couple times.  same procedure each time.  but, it only worked after the third try about.  and, i haven't had issues at all since.

i'd e-mail me...  because i want to send you something for you to experiment with (:

the diffusion film we sell might help disperse light a lot behind the grill, and get you a shining area rather than a shining spot...

i'm curious about how it would work out.

so get in touch, and i'll send one your way.  just remind me your address and everything (i know it from the records, but just remind me to be sure).

with LEDs, the correct resistor is important.  use a site like this: http://led.linear1.org/1led.wiz

that is issue #1.  the other is finding which voltage you are tapping into in the DMG, and you'll need a multimeter.  a cheapo one will normally do what you'll need.

hope that helps!

i'd suggest formatting and reflashing your cart.  it sounds like part of LSDj went missing in the data transfer or something...  i mean, considering you are getting the same error on different consoles.  the commonality would be the cart or software, and it would be more easily explained through a bad flash.
