^ there might be a NC/SC caravan.  the idea came up briefly.  so, there's that too.

also, amtrak goes basically straight there from charlotte, greensboro, raleigh, durham, etc...  there are a ton of NC stops on that line if you can get to the middle chunk of the state.  i think seats are (well, i erased this part, i actually don't remember.  i think a cheap seat roundtrip is around 100 though)

i did amtrak for blip, it worked out really well.  just give yourself the day because there will be delays since the line is rented from CSX up that way.

and there is no TSA too, if that helps anyone decide.  and 'real' food (some hot stuff even), and there are regular stops where you can get out and take a smoke, a walk, or whatever.  or just stare in amazement at the terrible infrastructure.

haha

maybe its a combo of blowing dust off and humidity?

maybe there is no cart failure inside a tropical storm and/or hurricane even

more likely one of the ICs.  its unfortunate they are all COB and blobbed like that...

do you have a programming device you could try to pull the ROM off with, perhaps?

its good you know the cart at least used to work.  the battery is most likely dead, in a traditional setup this would only affect the SRAM's ability to hold data during power off,

but....  since everything is covered in goo who knows what they've done.

just speculating, but changing the battery might have an effect on the cart other than just allowing for data retention.  i don't see why they would have integrated other features of the cart to be reliant on this, but its possible (if they wanted to not use a vreg is all i can think of, but that'd be a whacky decision to make).

thats really going out on a limb.

its something that is probably needing to be addressed anyways (the battery)

i sometimes really love your posts.  this especially

oh, wait...

have you tried this in a color console instead of the pocket?

the sticker indicates they are color ROMs, not all GBC ROMs play back on non-color devices.  the Nintendo ones like this give you the nice incompatibility screen, but since this is a pirate cart who knows...

worth a shot!

yeah man!

2006 was a great year in this community.  in my mind its my go-to "good year of chip".  with 2008 a close second.

such a classic.

^ yes

its the humidity which helps when you blow in them (helps make contact better momentarily).

but, yeah, doesn't really solve anything.

there is this nifty stuff called 'contact cleaner' just for this sort of thing...  it cleans oxidization off electromechanical parts/etc (people use it to clean dirty pots a lot).  check it out!

(although, tbh, the alcohol should have done the cleaning well enough)

its also REALLY important to note....  if you are cleaning the cart, but not bothering to clean the contacts in the gameboy too, you aren't eliminating the problem most likely.  its like when people change out the NES fingers for new ones, then stick some dirty cart into them which sort of defeats the whole point.  so, clean both.  when i was stocking the NES edge connectors this came up all the time

this sort of info isn't allowed to be linked to from cm.o (copywrited ROMs is the problem), so imma go ahead and close this thread, sorry!

this bit...

"Not Allowed: Hardware that lets people duplicate copy-protected video game cartridges"

...is the reason nonfinite and ourselves cannot sell carts on ebay.  we've both had our issues with ebay on this (we talked at last BRKfest and compared experience notes).  a few years back ebay took a turn for the worse and became a much less open marketplace.

you're fine unless someone reports you.  unfortunately there are some overzealous crusaders out there (i.e., people selling similar/competitive products), so the report feature has become more of a tool to restrict the marketplace.  its bogus.  ebay seems to defer to the reporter, and not give the reported much of a chance.

YES!!!!!

huzzah!

people.  if you don't know, learn.

yup, in touch with nitro2k01, excellent thought too...  he actually has been a big (and kind) help in one particular area on the cart...

thanks guys!

johan wasn't interested, hadn't considered trash80 but thats a wonderful idea!

as of now, lsdj doesn't support it, and if it did yeah it'd be a special rom to support this hardware.  or else a feature which could be hidden unless this cart was used, or just a null effect without it.  something like that.

but, really, any developer could support this.  hopefully as straightforwardly as they'd do the other 4 (at least the goal was to make it somewhat easily integrative (strange word, i mean 'integrate-able'))

i bet his warehouse is the most organized space one could imagine.  love the stacking skills
