Actually if everyone could also bathe in advance, that would be appreciated. There's a shower at Studio 34 if you have no time in advance.

I ment to ask... could we just shower ?

NO! You either bathe in advance or shower at the venue. Those are your options!

Also I can't believe it's just a day away! EXCITED!

You are very talented Mr. Shallow.

LOL I mean you are very deep Mr. Shallow.

Actually, only once, and I was being sarcastic:

Definitely a troll.

I didn't think you would take it seriously, but worse, you are blaming me for the way everyone else is treating you. You are making me look like a jerk when I am one of the few people still trying to give you advice.

Piksel Blue wrote:

and just because you may not like it doesnt make it mediocre
i dont like Beethoven that doesnt mean he sucks im just not into classical.

I never once commented on the quality of your songs. I did listen to them, all of them, after you uploaded them to Soundcloud. I wasn't crazy about any of them and didn't have anything to say. If I had to make a comment, I would say that they show potential and are better than most "my first LSDJ" songs but I don't think any of the songs are good enough to really get people excited, sell albums or attract people to a live show... that's the way I examine my own music* and I think you should do the same.

* Let me just qualify the above by saying that I don't consider any of my music to be truly great either.

sigh-_- you make it sound like i just said "yeah whatever man fuck off"
you have given me some good advice in my time here at least you did until you switched up on me and i became troll
just because i dont completely agree with your post doesnt mean im blowing you off, i still to some extent value your opinion that was the "i appreciate your comment" part of my reply

I was trying to figure out why you thought people were calling you a troll. I couldn't remember calling you that myself. So I searched through all 4 pages of this thread. And this is the first instance I found of anyone using the word:

Decktonic wrote:

I have to make a very important correction... when I said "troll," I wasn't referring to you (Piksel Blue). I was just using that as a general term to refer to some people in the past who spend a lot of time trolling on 8bc and chipmusic.org, and then share some mediocre songs, and get more listens than other artists that work hard on making good music but don't spend time in the forums. I didn't think, at any point during this thread, that you were being a troll and I was trying to give you serious advice. I wanted to clear the air because by page 3 of this thread it seemed like some comments were making me out to be jerk and I couldn't understand what I had said to cause that.

2. Its become very obvious to me that you ,nor many people who have posted on my threads, dont actually know what a troll is. A troll is basically some one who leaves rude/hateful comments on a forum/message board with the simple intent of being a dick, ive done nothing of the sort. I have however experienced that on this site and worst of all on my first thread were i clearly stated "i am new" meaning i know nothing of any rules outside of the ones shown to me when i joined

3. Not to sound like an asshole but i really dont care what people think of what i make, i do want criticism and pointers and so on but at the end of the day its all about what makes me happy, if i like it, its great. I dont know why i make this stuff
im not into fame and money would be cool but thats not im after......i guess ill never know.I appreciate your comment but i dont think were going to see eye to eye on this and i would like to end the conversation with the little civility left.

Whatever man, people like myself are trying to give you advice but it sounds like I'm telling you to spend more time on your songs and it's going like this:

you wrote:

I wish more people knew about me. Here, listen to my songs and tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Well, you need to spend more time on your music, you need to have some really amazing tracks to get attention.

i dont think anyone knows my name because i havent put any of my hiphop out there, its been in my music folder for 3 years. as for it being bad or good, its not as good as it could be but its definitley not at its worst, like i said before i could use improvment. also i feel like you think, i think im a pro, am i wrong.
edit: almost forgot no im not a rapper

Yes well here's the thing. You haven't been making hip hop for 3 years. You've been making beats for 3 years. And while it has been very good practice, beats are a dime-a-dozen. I'm a firm believer that you won't ever get noticed just for making beats. Still, you answered your own question; no one knows your name because you haven't made anything special in the past 3 years and you haven't shared anything or marketed yourself in that time.

So now you want to do chipmusic because you feel like it will get you more exposure. Well, ha ha. That's silly. I won't argue with your choice though. What I will tell you is this:

In order to really make it as an artist, and I mean, not everyone knows you because you troll some online message board, but, everyone knows you because they really like your music, you need to have a handful of really amazing tracks, rather than hundreds of mediocre ones. There are lots of mediocre songs out there. Thousands. Tens of thousands. Can you name any off the top of your head? Neither can I. So sure, you can make a bunch of crappy songs and share them on 8bc or chipmusic.org, but you will probably just be wasting your time. What you need to do is make a handful (3 or 4, really) that are AMAZING. And if it takes you a whole year to make those 3 or 4 songs, well, it will be much more rewarding than making 400 mediocre songs in that same amount of time. And when it comes to chip music, or any type of electronic music, you have your work cut out for you... it has to be interesting, creative, daring, and unique. Think about that. And good luck to you. There are a lot of people in the same boat. Just remember that good music markets itself. Period.

WHY DOES NO ONE KNOW YOUR NAME, AFTER 3 YEARS OF MAKING HIP HOP MUSIC? IS IT BECAUSE THE MUSIC IS BAD OR BECAUSE YOU SUCK AT MARKETING? And do you rap or do you just make beats?

Wow, I didn't think you guys would all latch onto that one word. I know none of us are really in competition with each other, but to someone who is obviously completely incapable of understanding what chipmusic.org is for, I needed to use some strong language. Hence, my diction.

Yes but you don't market yourself on chipmusic.org, because that would be marketing yourself to other MUSICIANS and we are not your customers, we are your _competitors_. This is for networking and making friends, not marketing. Marketing is what you do on Facebook, Myspace, etc.

And what a worthy contribution. The lesson here kids is if you get good enough people will promote your work FOR you.

This is true. On another note, I will say that networking and making friends is just as important as everyone says it is. I've made friends with quite a few chip musicians through 8bc, chipmusic.org and ds10forum.com and when they release new stuff, I usually will post about it on my blog and tweet about it, just as they would do for me. Having friends to help you promote your work makes it much easier than trying to do it all yourself.

Use drop.io or put the songs on Soundcloud. I'm not waiting 60 seconds for a download button and dealing with pop-up ads.

I know I sound like an asshole when I tell people this, but seriously I hate (with a passion) when someone asks me to download something from a website that makes it very difficult to download stuff for free when there are lots of much better, easier to use alternatives.
