I've been looking everywhere for one of the clear kitsch-boy shells! How much for one of those (or even 2) + shipping to australia?

And another for pics of customised gear :

And there is a forum for selling things here :

IF you are selling these bad boys, put up some prices and I will shift this to the trading forum. If it it is just a "here is my gear" thread then please post if in which ever one of the two above you feel is best and I will lock this one

Cheers!

Cheers Lazer,
Just chuck a lock on the thread if you wouldn't mind. I'll worry about it tomorrow when i can be bothered! Haha!

When do you think you'll have more in stock Kitsch? Definitely keen to get my hands on one or two. The width is significantly smaller too, am i correct? This should (hopefully) mean no more pressure points!

KineticTurtle via his blog:

This helps a lot. It seems the hum is heard through the speaker / headphone jack and not directly from the backlight. I'm gonna get one as soon as they're available and do some tests.

I'm curious to know what it actually is in the EL bl's that causes the hum.

GUYS I SOLVED IT
I desoldered the backlight wires and replaced the resistor. I then re-soldered onto some alternative ground/+5v points and voila!
This is after searching through a pile of 500 1/4watt resistors to find a 68 ohm one...

My face afterwards:

Out of the 6 I've purchased 2 of them had the pressure points. Look at the photos of my Fallout Boy, and you'll see what I'm talking about.
I fixed it by removing the rubber strip at the base of the screen that keeps pressure on the ribbon strip.

I've had a few problems with pressure points. All of which were solved by either
a) Removing screws on the rear-side of the front PCB
b) Removing the thin sticky plastic on the inside of the front faceplate (yes, this made a huge difference surprisingly!)
c) Removing the black rubber on the brown ribbon.

Hi there guys! Looking for some help!

I am trying to install the v4 Envy Sapphire Backlight to my Gameboy DMG.

I followed the http://www.nonelectronics.com/tutorials/tutorialsmt.pdf but still haven't had success.

Result (see 2nd image) It lights up just fine sound works but I just cant see anything - screen is a black block and adjusting the contract button has
no affect. Where have I gone wrong?

Thoughts / Advice desperately required!!

May be quite a late reply, but in regards to the v4 envy, it's meant to be installed vertically (with the wires sticking out the bottom, under the brown ribbon). They solder to either side of the capacitor. The tutorial you followed is old and out-dated!

Let me know if you need help. Unless you've already succeeded / given up ;P

I picked up the whole set of original DMGs off ebay a little while back. Check it!

There's still a few missing from my collection though... Namely the Pink Kirby DMG, the Planet Hollywood DMG and the beautiful Black Wario DMG. (If you have one, i'll buy it. No questions asked!)

He mentioned one of the consoles wouldnt turn on. He said the others are fine though. I'll have to have a look!

Perhaps contact NE? There's always a chance he'll have some in stock. All the times i've contacted them it's been helpful!

if you manage to repair there you can sync these together with DS10 !
