It's fair enough if he can't manage it anymore but he could at least release the software/firmware if someone else wants to run with it.
More than a few of us are handy with a soldering iron.

Next week marks 2 years since I placed my order....

P.S. please check out Aly James'  FMDrive and SPSG plugins.
They sound great and are a great alternative to waiting years for a GenMDM

Update: There's a problem with the PCBs he had to order more.
I can also vouch for Aly James' VST plugin. It's kept me going while waiting for my GenMDM

Humbly disagree. Something needs to be done differently because the current system is kinda clumsy and it doesn't look like it's working out very well.
Aly James doesn't seem to be having any problems with piracy.
I'm currently using his FMDRIVE and SPSG VST both sent as downloads.
