Is there anything else you have to do after setting SYNC to keyboard? Or is that it?

So I got my Keyboard wired up to my DMG-07 today and... It's not working... MAYBE.
It's getting power from the Game Boy. (The 3 LEDs flash on the keyboard.) The thing is sound isn't occurring when I hit a key. (Even after setting everything to 00 and switching the SYNC) Is this a problem with the keyboard or do I just not know how to use it? Also the arrow keys aren't moving the cursor in LSDJ.
