They had text. They just didn't have the Gameboy and Nintendo logo.
In that case, yeah, its paint. I was trying to justify the non-teal color with a poor photo, but the buttons are the correct colors. The paint job doesn't look bad though.

obviously it is painted since it doesn't have the "nintendo GAME BOY" text below the screen.. unless some don't have that and i just am unaware.
edit :: just saw that this point was already made.. hehe.. but it is still obvious!! ; P
The third party replacements had no text, but they were apparently more of a teal color.

Everyone has been PM'ed for their addresses. The only person who used paypal "to purchase an item," didn't give me their screen name!

Oh yeah, this is the same guy who was selling those bootleg mutlimeter carts for $100.00. He also sells homemade LSDj carts with not enough ram, and used to claim he found them at garage sales.
Did you get your money back? I don't know how he's getting away with stuff like that.
Multimeter or DSO carts?

There used to be a company that made DMG replacement shells (also came with buttons). And they made teal ones that kinda look like yours. So might be one of them.
Could be, yeah. I once bought a Red DMG on fleaBay for next to nothing because of the washed-out photo. It looked yellow with grey buttons, but the surroundings in the room were also washed-out. Could be the same case, the picture is pretty poor.

Album title suggestions:
Gameboy! I Choose You!
I Wanna Hear The Very Best!
Show Me Your Pokemans
Pokemon DMG/GBC
Poketunes
Ash And Misty's Infinite Playlist (that one's pretty good right there!)
The last is an excellent concept title, however I hate the anime. God awful representation of all that is good. There is no Ash, there is no Gary; there is only Red and Blue. Rivals to the very end, with only one place on top. If people want a decent adaptation (yes...with pikachu too) then read the manga: The Electric Tale of Pikachu. There are boobs, evil rocket and the mutilation of pokemon. None of that watered down wish wash. Why was there a ghost Morrowack? because Team Rocket killed it. Dead.

Edit: Oh, and Jazzmarazz, do you want to join up?
Alas, I do not write music. I am but a simple peddler of goods and knowledge dabbling in nostalgia and reminiscence.

That would be great, but alas it is open to all current V gens. We could probably still use Oak as the cover for the album though.
Well if you get technical (I simply suggested the very essence of introductions) how about something that is omnipresent? Omnipresent in all generations would have to be the pokeball, or broken down to the most simple of elements; the apricorn.
