are you running off of battery or power supply? Cause plugging it into an outlet adds a bunch of hum.

wait who uses the DJ prefix? I can only think of DJ Cutman

edit: seems like it's used mostly to differentiate from things that already exist, cause the only other one I can think of is DJ Scotch Egg

I can't hear the difference between on and off on this recording, because of all the background noise. Record through the headphone jack. Or just listen to the headphone jack and see if it's still really loud and buzzy?

Edit: headphones on, i thought you turned it on part way through the recording. It doesn't sound good, and doesn't really sound like a prosound issue either. Still want to know what it sounds like through the headphone jack.

It was a party someone was having called DrunkeNES. There was $5 a cup, and the guy had a couple kegs and like a case of Jim Beam. I spent maybe two weeks getting my set ready in / learning Ableton. I was planning to DJ for half the set and play my shit for the other half, but the guy had 3 turn tables, 2 cartridges and none of them had a working needle. I played all Nintendo Breakz material (and other NES remixes that I don't think ended up anywhere else) It was super dark during my set, and I could only really see my laptop. I thought I could feel people dancing, but later someone told me skinheads had shown up and one of them was just going apeshit on this floor-mounted punching bag during my set. The skinheads were also huffing Dust-Off (definitely) and smoking DMT(i think).

You can stream / download it from this page, it's labeled "[19:21] Saskrotch - Saskrotch Live"

Good / embarassing memories listening to this for the first time in years.

I had the Supercard, and had trouble with playing certain GBA games (the Mega Man Zero games were always pretty laggy), but it lasted like 3 or 4 years, and would probably still work if I had a way to easily replace the contacts on the cart.

I haven't been able to find one that was still on sale. Google GBA flashcart RTC. the internet is easy.

Yeah, a GB flashcart will work for LSDJ in a GBA, but the sound quality goes down. Just keep that in mind.

An hour away isn't that close, and I wouldn't call it cooler. It's "hipper" I guess.

The best GBA flashcarts have real time clocks (RTC) and are far and few in between. Without it, ROMs never run full speed.

Also nanoloop is designed to only work with the cartridges oliver puts it on. And the GBA soundchip is a poor substitue for the original, so you should just get a GB flashcart for LSDJ.

Don't feel like looking up to see if someone mentioned it, and this isn't specifically for the gameboy hardware, but a .lsdsng to MML converter that wasn't a complete mystery like the one johan put up years ago would be awesome.

I was also thinking it would be great if there was a way to play/compile .lsdsngs in a rom in a way that didn't use all the CPU to play, with some live mode functionality (tempo control / channel mute + solo, etc)

having a general interest in writing music before you find out about chip usually helps

Downloaded it, I'm forcing myself to only listen to a specific playlist/style of music until this one music project is done, but once that happens I'll be listening to this.

You could record a synth line to tape, pull the tape out, re-spool it and then record it

or just you know, experiment
