oops... sorry messed up with the ''edit'' stuff

like them too... still even have the 2 first albums in the car (I have to respect some ''girly-music'' rate, as mandatory positive musical discrimination... for madam...even have a shitty bob marley best off, do not EVER get married !!! )

but they sound far too pop-ish to me

and never as classy as Massiv-Attack or Cinematic Orchestra

by the way, do you guys have some examples of cool chip downtempo/ abstract HH ?

depends on the year... it's not very linear... nor... trully organized, on my side...

+1 Dire Hit

... then, I would not argue too much about musical taste on a forum dedicated to mario blips smile)

I feel a bit like cortuor these days, nothing really convincing gets out of any of my instruments, have a few projects going on, but kind of dawdle...
i keep going arround old stuff and way of working... it is boring and not too motivating indeed...

but I know that these ''low'' period of time are also important, to step back for a while, internalize things and often imagine new directions

don't be afraid about it, maybe change style totally, or even instrument... seek for a new form of musical fun if this one seems to have loosen attraction. you may come back to it through another way one day... or not, who cares

and don't worry too much about time, it's juste ''time'' you can't actually gain or loose it wink

i'm stucked to crappy pop structure ''intro-verse-chorus-verse-breack-chorus-chorus-outro'' as I usually have to follow some other people's structure

but I dream about making one day some loooong linear structure, slowly growing in tension until explosive breack, like in old D&B tunes

one day...

all your decision means is i need another gameboy and cart ha ha

start to think the same smile

been playing with this chord thing a bit... it's really really a cool ''missing link'' for someone like me who's more an instrumentist than pure programmer...
i'm not able to get the whole sounds subtelties out of it yet, but I clearly can see it aside to LSDJ for some ''melodic impro'' parts

that's actually the only soft that remains on the ''b face'' of my card''

cheers for all the work on it then wink

On the other hand, if you want to learn stuff about Linux and programming, doing thing the hard way is certainly a good way to learn (I'm saying this without any irony, I really mean it).

yep, this. do not want any cocking windows at home anymore... (well on very last option i'll install ems drivers on work's pc... and eventually get fired one day, because of 8bit music...you'll explain this to my wife...)

If you need a password to execute a sudo command, it is asking for the admin password on your machine.

nope, it's for the above link

I guess I sort of regret and feel bad about being condescending about OP's linux inexperience. Thinking back to my early linux days, I was probably in the same boat

Jeez guys, give Sesska a break

yep, cheers...
Linux is pretty new for me as a concept, which does not mean that i don't want to do the ''linux way'' or read the reamefiles.. oO

I know how to open console, putting very basic commands into it, but still not quite get the overall ''logic''... basically when everything goes fine... everything's fine... if something mess up... i'm screwed, as error messages are another language to me.

then... I got something like 1/2h a day access to my own PC, being at work / out of house most of the time... (this was the ''poor little thing'' minute)

then type "make". If this goes through without errors, you can then type "sudo make install" to install.

will retry this evening, something messed up yesterday, cheers²

cheers!

i had that already... so I guess it means that there is no ''already done'' driver to simply install ?

sigh...

few weeks ago, I had to re-install windows for the 12265213e time since I got my oooold PC.

I said ''stop'', got a random UBUNTU version and at last became a free man. \o/

everything works fine and lovely...appart 1 smallish detail: GB EMS card can't be recognized...

I still can work on my stuff on the game boy itself, no pb... but... well... I go to Paris this week end... long train time... and... well... i'd like to put street fighter2, lemmings and zelda on the other side... (*ashamed*)

do you have a tip or two ?

You can create multiple instruments in a single table and smoosh them together at high speeds,

you forgot ''when you're very good''... cause I personnaly can't : /

this ''noise thread'' gave me a lot of (good?) ideas to test on the next ''trip-hop'' track I have to make (1xLSDJ+vocals+Toy piano+ukulele)... going to sound veryveryvery low-fi, trying to give the noise channel a better chance than I now do...

The trick, I find, is to learn to spread parts over multiple channels.

I'm sure that it's LSDJ key of heaven... but also the trickiest part of it, as it involves to think your instruments/song layout on a very-very different way than the usual ''bass here, beat there, melody on an other channel''

I don't see how shuffling a couple of columns around on a gameboy screen makes anyone more or less legit tbh.

well it would definitely make some difference to me

no pb with the 100% song mode, if chip is used as a background among other stuff, or other instruments

but if performing ''live'' with 1 or 2xLSDJ, I would expect the performer to make some kind of ''mixing'' of his own stuff, rather than ''playing his songs one after the others'', for which we honestly don't require his (her) physical presence ?
