So was it the best tuna melt you've had?

Suppose you have a stencil. Triforse for example. You put it on the shell and paint. Result: you have triforce painted on the shell. What if I want to paint everything but the triforece? In other words - invert the stencil. But without cutting new one.

I've heard there's some kind of acrylic medium that can be easily removed, but I can't remember exactly...

Is it possible?

1) Doesn't matter. 1/4 is a bit tricker to install though.
2) 1/8 isn't that hard, you just need to drill a hole. For 1/4 you might also need to relocate the piece of back PCB.
3) No, it's shit.
4) Google some tutorials, this stuff is well described.

PS. Like your phone's autocorrect

I've requested to have this thread moved to General Discussion... Not my fault.

I wasn't ironic smile quotes are there because it's not really a nintendo product and handheld... shouldn't have quotes actually sad
Anyways sorry, man, all I meant to say it's awesome smile

what type of paint is this?  that looks really really good

Thanks smile I used Duplicolor gray primer and Krylon's flat black. I applied several thin coats of black over the primer. I had too much on the back plate though. On top of it is Dupont sealer.

You can't see a thing and they're way too thick, better find some warzone SPs

Here's the nice tut, hope it helps

I know a person who blew out their power switch fuse from not using a resistor.

Interesting... But as a rule of thumb it's safer to use one.

People usually go with 47 ohm, but it's the matter of taste. I think that with 47 ohm it's still too bright and the picture is a little bit blurry. As for having a resistor for safety reasons... there are people who didn't use one and AFAIK nobody has burned the frontlight panel so far.

But it's always safer to use one!

Hi guys,

Do you know any useful technique to get these quite deep screw holes on the GB back plates well covered with spray paint? Especially on DMG where they're the deepest. Thanks!

I've seen this one and 9V could cause display problems. I'm thinking more of cylindrical LiPo cell...

Hello there,

I'm working (well, rather thinking, I haven't actually started yet) on a DMG with clear shell, LEDs and soundlights (aside from other stuff like pitch and prosound). Naturally I'd like to save some space, because soundlights PCB although quite small but not enough to fit in the shell as is. Evident solution of course is to put mods in (or instead of) the battery compartment. I don't want to ditch the batteries completely though.

I was thinking to put a LiPo cell inside, but... 1) Small cells have 500maph and less I don't think it will provide any good battery life 2) Other cells are much bigger than the compartment so that I'm gonna need to remove it. But then it'll be tricky to fix everything in place (except for glueing it but I wan't to keep things 'removable').

So far I have two solutions in mind. First - cylindrical LiPo cell which is also too big for the compartment but in this case I can get away with only drilling a hole. I'm not sure it will fit vertically (cylindrical LiPo cell is 65mm long) so it's gonna be horizontal but in this case it will partially fill the empty space on the side of the shell where 1/4'' prosound or part of PCB could go. But I guess I could go with 1/8'' pro sound and place it on the front plate...

Second option is replacing the '+' battery contact on the PCB next to its negative counterpart and thus making it powered by 2 AAs instead of 4. But it's gonna be just 3V of power and with all the mods I'm pretty sure it's a bad idea.

I'm sure lots of you guys had the similar issue, do you have any advice for that?

Bottom line I'll get rid of batteries completely (but I'm not favouring this otion). Thanks!

Thanks guys! Seems it's not that straightforward as I thought smile

Hi there,

Could anybody please point me where I can get 250-500k pot small enough to put it on top of DMG? Or even pocket? I'm having hard time finding something suitable on ebay, but perhaps someone has a link around. Thanks!

Could you please share what did you end up doing to fix that in case anybody else encounters the same problem?
