Why ship from china? The optoisolator can be found locally. And I take it you checked that the midi wires are not reversed? And that the diode is not reversed?

I can not find one locally< i have tried.  And, yes, I checked that the MIDI wires were not reversed, three times.  The diode as well.  Though I fear I may have damaged the diode when trying to remove it...

So I have a school project due Wednesday, and it needs an arduinoboy.  The one I made is not functioning and new parts will be extremely costly to have shipped overnight from China.  If you have an arduinoboy I will buy it off of you and pay for overnight shipping/pickup if you are in new england area.  Heck, if I could just borrow it for the critique I could send it back after.

I already have an arduino, it's the opto-isolator circuit that is having issues, if that makes a difference.

Don't PM, email me at [email protected]

So I've been quiet for a while, what with technical issues, school and other musical projects.  However I have been secretly, manically working on this.  It is one of the most complex things I've done.  And though still heavily game boy based, a large portion of this was also hardware synthesizers (Dave Smith MoPho + Microkorg), software synthesizers (Mostly Logic’s ES2 + Massive), as well as found sound and a little guitar + bass.  I chose only to release it in high quality-near-lossless format, so streaming it may be tough.

Owen McGarry // Composition
Cayman Robson // Album Art
Phoenix Pleasant // Guitar + Bass

Check it out at Belgian Man Records

How goes it all?  May I present:

tweezers are great for soldering tiny things.  Also some little magnetic trays, they sell them at automotive shops, great to throw tiny screws in.

Also Personally I always dissect things like gameboys on a square of towel.  Helps keep stuff from being scratched and helps screws from rolling away.

And some spare razor blades, good for a lot of things

When I get a writers block I try to play with a new scale.  Started messing with the Egyptian scale in a recent song (C D E♭ F♯ G A♭ B C).

who are you most thankful for this years award ceremony?

open a venue or find a small one that will let you use it as a workshop and such during the day

you can buy a kit from NeX that will allow you to build an arduinoboy into your gameboy.  It's very cool.  You can look it up, but I'm sure he'll post here soon

the DMG's buzz can get really overpowering live, if not pro-sounded
