SO IN - can't wait to see you all

FYI regarding the actual comp talked about on the first page, I'm keeping track of everyone that has shown interest or provided links to songs. I've been overrun with work, and will be organizing all the details on the way down to GETFACUNDOWAVE. Thanks for showing all of your support for such an awesome dude.

I had been sitting on that for a few days waiting to hear back that it was a go, and it was a stressful few days.

PROTIP: Awesome collection of cTrix history, ripped fresh for the release. FRESH!

Facundo comp is a go then, here's who I have seen interested here so far:
* Saskrotch
* 10k
* Decktonic
* an-cat-max

E-mail me at [email protected] and let me know what you're interested in submitting, I don't know exactly what a good deadline date is, but just assume for now that it's a few weeks out so you can self-motivate. However, sooner is better for submissions so just shoot me an e-mail and let me know that you're down to party.

As for the savefacundo Bandcamp releases, here's the deal:

If you want to contribute an album that's already on Bandcamp: Fantastic, that's really easy. Just email me the following:

* Link to your bandcamp release
* Minimum price to download (people can choose to pay more if they wish)
* Bonus content to include (videos, extra tracks, etc.)

If your release isn't on Bandcamp already: I will need FLAC/AIFF/WAV master files for your album to upload to bandcamp. Place a zip of those files on the web somewhere (I can provide an upload space if necessary), and email me the following info:

* Link to zip file
* Album name
* Track names
* Minimum price to download
* Any bonus content you wish to include with the album (videos, extra tracks, etc.)

Any contributions are greatly appreciated, as Facundo is a pal to hundreds of us and it would be the worst thing ever if he had to go. You can make a difference!

Cheers,
-Chris

Flyers with drunken signatures all over them, and setlists everywhere although I'll never be able to attach a specific show/memory to any of them. I passed around a memo book to anyone I met at Blip 2009, and its tattered remains are bundled together with all the other little bits and pieces of memory fodder from past shows. I think that's my favorite little bit so far.

Oh, and I'm on my way to a steady collection of helmet parts too. The previous one made it through Blip and a year of crazy shows without major damage, so as a celebratory measure it was HULK SMASHED at our Boston8bit birthday bash.. I'll probably carefully duct tape it back together and give it up for charity if the chance ever arises.

Here's to another year of packratitis chipmusicus :-D

Get a little buzz on to kill the nerves if necessary, and don't forget to enjoy yourself. Worst case scenario your PA bums out or everybody hates you... neither of those are a big deal unless everybody *does* hate you, and you decide not to figure out why. Check out the audience's reactions to your songs and adjust appropriately. You'll have one song that nobody except you likes. If the one guy in the audience that is SUPER-PSYCHED about what's going on isn't a complete toolbox, play into his excitement and trick him into starting a dance party.

And most importantly, if you're playing somewhere random like a sports bar and you get the one heckler that starts giving you shit, your best response is a "what's with this asshole" look in his direction before you continue to rock the fuck out. Forget about what others think, even if it's only while you're on stage.

But trust me on the sunscreen…

SUPER LATE EDIT: I can't tell you how much more enjoyable shows became for me when I decided to let loose and start channeling the energy in my songs into movement. Dancing is awesome, and it's a great way to train yourself not to get worked up about what people are thinking about you. Is dancing too much? That's okay, just focus on your songs and convey the feeling behind them to the audience in whatever way you're comfortable with!

PUMPED! Can't wait to see my far away friends again.

Hey everyone,

I'm sure a lot of you have heard about this game called Minecraft, and may or may not have cared enough to find out what it's all about. Minecraft is a game where you mine resources, and use them to craft things. There are no objectives, no quests, or anything else to direct your activity aside from your own whim. When I first started to hear about the game, I couldn't have been less interested. I felt like without any clear reason behind what you're doing, there was no reason to be doing it in the first place. How wrong I was...

Make custom skins simply by editing the png texture and uploading it to minecraft.net

This game is a near-perfect implementation of emergent gameplay. You're left to decide what to do next: "I'm going to build a house" turns into "I'm going to dig a mine next to my house and find some iron" turns into "I just fell into a naturally existing cave system, I should build/place some torches and check this place out". The best analogy I can make is that it's like playing with digital legos, with an entire world constructed out of blocks that can be mined/collected/placed wherever you'd like. The crafting system allows you to arrange these resources into different combinations to create tools, decorations, and other items to help make the world your own.

Crafting is amazingly simple.

So I definitely sound like a salesman right now, but that's the reason why this game has been coming up more and more recently - it sounds mediocre until you hop into the world, punch your first tree for some wood and build a pickaxe. At that point you're either hooked or you're not... but most likely you are.

My tower of fun... all this and more can be yours if you become addicted to Minecraft!

Anyway, here's a thread for people to post stuff they've done in the game, or to hook up to get some multiplayer games going. If you have the full client ($13 one-time, free updates for life!) send me a PM and I'll respond with the boston8bit.com server details. Cheers!
