Oh man, I'm trying for a last minute submission, but I started way too late. I probably won't make it in time.
If can, can. If no can, no can. There's always next time brother.

lest we get stuck with it.
Haha, this is actually pretty solid man. I hear you as far as it being a placeholder though. It would be fun as an "Insert card" kind of thing for the final product, with all the credits of the entrants to the comp like you have so far.
Well, the only theme would be songs written in 2015 I guess. It's also kind of a collective effort, so something that (somehow?) reflects that would be cool. Not too sure about a title either. I'll probably just go with "IOUT Open Collaborative Mixtape 2015". Because as boring as that sounds, it might be better to have a descriptive title. I'm open to suggestions though.
Cover art is not required or needed for individual songs, though if you provide it, it will be included. I'm referring specifically to the front and/or back cover art that would be included as the "Official" art.
Less than a week remains until our deadline, gentlefolks. Many great submissions have made it my way, but no prospective cover art as of yet. If there are no volunteers for cover art the project may take longer to release, unless the general consensus is that the art is of secondary importance to having the comp released ASAP. Since we have many voices involved, now is time to make your opinion known on this issue.
I would like to release the comp by the end of January, schedule permitting, but due to the unpredictable nature of my work it could take a bit to get everything mastered and properly arranged. Thanks again to all who have made a submission up to this point. Happy Holidays to all.
Gorgeous!
what a lovely piece of music
Isn't it though? DBOYD is a genius.
One of my favorite chip songs has to be "Push Off The Ground" by Infodrive. It's got a line of melancholy underneath the happy major structure that makes it really work.
"Hurrigwen" by Squarepunch is so honest and touching that It makes me emotional.
The Daydream Elevator by bubu is super emotional and just so beautifully written. I mentioned it in another thread, and I'll keep mentioning it because it's a masterpiece. One of my favorite chip albums of all time from front to back.
"Stargazer" by Ikari Is so pure and perfect it makes me want to cry. It has made me cry. I am a 28 year old man and this is perfectly acceptable behavior, haha. :') Any more work by, or info on this artist would be much appreciated.
I'm decidedly not of the same caliber as the aforementioned musicians, but most of my work fits into the stereotypical "Happy Dance Chiptune" box.
Unnatural Flavors is chock full of joy.
Sooooooooo doooooooooooope!
Thanks dude! We do manage to have a good time don't we. As you can see we've been on a long 90's good/bad comedy nostalgia trip lately.
Like I see reflected in the Conquer Monster stuff, a lot of our formative art/music memories are all tied together through various forms of media. I can sum up eras in relation to what I was playing, watching, reading and listening to. It's interesting to have the whole picture sometimes.
All kinds of junk man! I don't really have any rules. At this point it's mostly Action, Comedy, SF and Fantasy. I used to collect 80's/90's cartoons heavily, but I sold/gave almost my entire collection to a close friend who was moving across the country. He has a young son and wanted to raise him on the good stuff. Here's a little sampler of what we've been watching lately:
Usually we'll take a box out to the shop every couple of weeks and switch it for a new set.
One of the reasons I was drawn to modding chip gear was that I already had experience working on VCRs and related electronics. (On top of working on guitars and stuff.)
Been collecting VHS since I was a kid. This sort of thing pleases me greatly.
Just sent an e-mail with my submission. Lemme know if you got it :3
Just got it. Oh my goodness, it's a banger...
Count me in.
Edit: Depending on the deadline.
I realized I had posted in this thread and not addressed the topic. Bad form!
The dudes who got me going on LSDJ:
Wizwars - Catchy, well written melodic songs, brutal thrashings when applicable.
Soleviio - Neo-Classical + 4otf + wise use of instruments, still trying to figure out some of his tricks.
bubu - Fun, funky dance stuff like "Daydream Elevator" makes me want to get down every time.
Ikari/FTFX "Perfect Distant Dream" Split - Don't know a thing about these guys other than this split/demo, but it was formative for me.
Infodrive - The guy who showed me how quickly one could progress in tracking if one puts their mind to it.
Yeah dude! This is a solid EP. I think "Under The Clouds" is my favorite jammer.
100 ohm is a pretty standard value, so something like 250 or 300 will give you a pretty dim screen. You can get a big ol' box of assorted resistors basically anywhere electronics parts are sold. Just throw it in between your light's hot side lead and the power source. Try some different values and see what you like. You can also get a little trimpot and hand-adjust the brightness if that suits you better.
I also tend to go with a pretty strong resistor to keep power usage to a minimum. People who like backlights on the brightest setting are usually going to be frustrated with pockets.
