you're welcome. of course it's up to you which channels to use and how you use them. in general I think it's typical to use noise for snare and the wav channel for kicks because it plays the lowest pitch and you can get reasonably good kick sounds with it, and then the challenge becomes deciding how you want the bass and kick to fit into one channel. to be honest it was hard to hear any kick or snare, and since the noise channel can also be used for noise crashes and other rhythmic noise effects, based on how this track sounds I felt like it would be a good direction for you to explore in the future. hope that helps smile

I like the energy in the track a lot, and I think you're off to a really good start here! If I had one suggestion I would say to explore working with the noise channel, there are a lot of interesting sounds you can get out of it that I think can add a lot of interesting variation to the rhythms. Keep up the great work!

edit: derp wrong thread

Overall I like the style you're developing, and I actually like the intro. I also like that you changed up the instrumentation a bit in the third section. The first section starting after the intro and the second section could use a bit more variation in the dynamics and in the instruments, so consider using volume envelopes or setting the release in the notes instead of having them all at the same volume. You can also experiment with changing the duty cycle / pulse width on your instruments, or adding vibrato, which will give you a wider variety to choose from in your palette of sounds. The instrument editor in Famitracker is powerful so it will be good to get familiar with it.

As far as the form/structure goes, the more you practice writing/composing, the more you learn. I like the song how it is, I also think you could develop it more if you decided you wanted to do so, but maybe you are going for a shorter piece with short sections. Are you thinking of using it as the soundtrack for a video game, or are you writing it as a song to stand on its own? That will inform your decisions about how to structure the song. Do you like writing somewhat strange things even though they are strange, or do you want to write something that other people will like even if you don't? That will also inform your decisions. I think playing around with the structure is a great option especially when you're not sure which path to take. Hope some of this was helpful to you, keep up the good work!

Does anyone know how to extract the image of the user's face for the custom DJ images in Trippy H? Do these devices copy that image as well or only the ones saved to the album?

if you're looking for a tracker you can't do better than renoise. if you want some extra chip-related bells and whistles check out chipsounds and the other plogue products

it takes too much time in LSDJ (only) to make something really really good, and it feels like everything has been done before

but nobody is doing it in my city so by doing it maybe i'll stand out. and i believe in myself that i can really do something awesome. only time will tell if that's true

i'd like to get some serious chops in 1xLSDJ first and then move beyond it when i feel i've reached max potential of what i can do in that format. based on a lot of these posts maybe i am heading in the wrong direction ¯\(°_o)/¯

slammin

I wanted to throw this out there, but you can actually use this in Cygwin with the Zadig LibUSB drivers if you don't mind using the command line: http://theotherdays.net/files/ems-flasher-win32/ (instructions here)

I wrote a simple bash script to do the flashing and it works great. I'm on Win7 x64 and never was able to get the stupid drivers to install. This method has never failed though.
