I recently encountered a DMG in this state, and I replaced the power regulator board from a different DMG and it fixed the issue.

As it stands, the PCBs are in hand and the hardware design is finalized. We have built several cartridges, and they are confirmed to be working.

We are currently waiting on the label production, and then we will begin final assembly. We can now safely say these will be shipping in time for Halloween 2019.

Remember to get in touch if you would like to reserve a number!

Update!

We had a little hiccup with the hardware. It turns out it was due to an improperly flashed chip, so now we can proceed with the project.

We have a small batch of cartridges pending a few software adjustments, and then the contributors will receive their limited edition carts, and the standard edition will follow shortly afterwards. We're on track to have these delivered for Halloween 2019!

Absolutely. Although I can not guarantee any sort of time frame. We may shoot for Halloween 2019.

Sounds like he only shipped your order because he was going to lose the money in the Paypal dispute if he didn't.

If he's been this busy and unable to provide a service that people paid for, he needs to close his shop. I'm not exaggerating when I say this has been going on for the last decade.

The CPU-08 has a different newer regulator, but it isn't free of issues like this.

You should really consider connecting the backlight to the unregulated source. The thread you linked shows the source you can connect to post-power switch.

While it will technically dim, I reiterate, you probably won't notice it. It was standard practice for years to connect backlights like this in DMGs.

You do not want to replace the regulator in this instance, you just want to bypass it. You will want to connect this to the non-regulated power source after the power switch.

Honestly, you could just connect the backlight directly to this source with the 100 ohm resistor and skip the regulator completely. This means the backlight will vary in brightness, but you will probably never notice it.

Kitsch, if you're getting out of the game, can you transfer me apeshitmods.com if you have no intention of using it for apeshit mods? I miss it dearly.

If you guys could PM me your email addresses, I'll reach out by e-mail when I have an update. Thanks!

Thanks guys- and if there was anyone else that wanted to contribute, we appear to have space for one more song in the rom!

We’re back for another Halloween release!

As we gear up for our physical cartridge release for Heebie-GBs 2018, we are releasing the ROM: Freebie-GBs completely free for Halloween.

Due to time constraints, the ROM is not 100% finished, and a few things will be polished for the cart release. For example, the music visualization is a bit CPU heavy and interferes with the music playback, and can be turned of with the select button. The ROM does however represent the overall idea of this year's Heebie-GBs release.

Check out our teaser here:

Free ROM download:

We will not be immediately taking pre-orders. Instead we are allowing people to reserve their cartridge numbers, and will follow up when the cartridge are available to pre-order. No hard feelings if you can’t commit to your purchase when the time comes around.

We are starting from 1-50, and if interest is higher, we will raise the quantity.

We expect these to cost approximately $40USD + $5-10 USD shipping.

Please let us know the following:
Preferred cartridge number from 1-50 (or simply request "lowest").
Would you like to be prioritized for the nearest lowest number if your number is unavailable or if a lower number becomes available?

Just waiting on the ROM to be uploaded to nitro2k01's site.

Here's a demonstration of the ROM for now:

It's happening!

We'll be releasing the ROM for free on Halloween (Freebie-GBs!). Those interested in a physical copy will be able to purchase one in the following months when the hardware is complete.

We're looking for a pixel artist for an upcoming cartridge release.

We expect this to be around 3 hours of work, and offer compensation in the form of goods or paypal.

If interested, please email me your portfolio to my gmail (written below) and I will follow up with the details.

Thanks!

Reiterating on what I said above, this issue is almost always caused by the white ribbon cable that connects the two boards breaking internally (you won't see a physical tear), or the brown ribbon cable under the LCD detaching.

While replacing caps is good practice, it shouldn't be the first step when troubleshooting, since the caps in DMGs are pretty good.

It's one of these flash cartridges:
