Rad! Too bad I don't have anything to mod, I bet those glow-in-the-dark ones will go fast... Glad I got the yellow ones while they were available, though, as I love em. big_smile

I like the variety of chord progressions and the delicate atmospheric leads and arpeggios you use. I feel like you should let your tracks develop and evolve a bit more, though. Also, the sounds you use tend to be a bit nondescript, and the drums could afford to be punchier.

BTW, the last song in particular is very nice. It feels like a lullaby and I love the soft arpeggios and the weird spacey noise that sometimes plays as part of the drumbeat. Only thing that bugs me about it is the use of the 1-up sound from Mario, which feels a bit gimmicky and distracts from the otherwise serene mood.

You are not what you release. It's okay to do it wrong.

All the back lights I've bought from Nonfinite seem to be pretty thin. The v5 didn't feel snug, I think they did a good job on that sizing. Just an FYI.

I've used a v3 and a v5; the v3 is very snug, similar to what others are reporting, but the v5 fits in there beautifully.

I don't think they're crap. They are a bit monotonous because your technique isn't very sophisticated, but listening to your most recent tracks vs. your earliest ones, I'd say you're making a lot of progress in terms of both composition and technique. I'd encourage you to explore using more complex instrument voices and effects and more dynamic variation. Also, many of the songs meander quite a bit melodically, and lack much differentiation in sound and feel between different sections, and I think they might benefit from some attention to these areas.

But really, you seem to be doing fine at figuring this out on your own, so just keep at it.

Thanks; I'll give it a try and tell you how it goes, though I've come to really like the feel of silicon D-pad + normal buttons for muddygb.

So I guess these might be really good for use with muddygb then, so you can hit those diagonals somewhat easily?

Just wanted to say for everyone's benefit that this is 100% the case. I love my silicon d-pad.

I find the silicon A & B buttons to be somewhat unresponsive, though, like they're cut a little too close to the case.

I can help you with this. I'll send you a PM.

I'm in Austin. I don't normally go to shows but I want to make it for this.

I like it. It reminds me of Earthbound at parts, or of the ambient bits in the N64 Zelda soundtracks. I can't explain this very well, but... tonally it feels off-kilter in the way things sometimes do when composed by somebody with an undeveloped melodic sense, but it follows a kind of logic that makes it work in a way things like that normally don't. Combined with the choice of samples, this gives the album a feeling of channeling naivety without actually being naive, I guess, which is kind of awesome. Or maybe I'm just making stuff up. Regardless, there are some beautiful moods here.

"im cold" is my favorite part.

That'd be this guy, if you're wondering. A cool guy and talented artist.

Assuming the system in question supports the Super Game Boy, I see no reason why this wouldn't work.

I've been trying to build a custom NES cartridge but am stuck on the part where I burn my own ROM. I don't intend (presently) to make a habit of building custom cartridges so I don't want to invest in my own burner. Are there services (or users on this forum or elsewhere) who could burn chips for me?

(Needless to say, the ROMs I intend to burn are perfectly legal)

1. FREE TO GOOD HOME: black Tascam Porta 02 mk II 4-track cassette tape recorder, in good cosmetic condition. Not housebroken, just regular broken. One of the channels (the second one) works, but the others don't work, due to some kind of electrical problem. I took it apart and there's some corrosion on the PCBs, so this may be the issue. You could fix it, or use it to make decent-quality mono recordings. I'll even pay shipping, it's depressing just having the thing around.

2. I have some games I don't want/have duplicates of. Prices will be lower if you order more than one.

Game Boy
Super Mario Land - $5
Super Mario Land 2 - $7
Mickey's Dangerous Chase - $5
Ducktales - $5
Donkey Kong Land - $7
Kirby's Dream Land - $5

Genesis
Phantasy Star III (in box, no manual; cartridge has seen better days but works fine) - $12

3. Miracle Piano, working, with some scuff marks. I'm inclined to keep this, but not very inclined; if you've got big plans for one of these, make me an offer.

PM me if you're interested in any of this.

It's hardly the best way, but if I want to achieve this effect I just do a really quick portamento at the beginning of a note. For a small enough shift it's mostly unnoticeable.

I tried to do an Advent Calendar of sloppy folky cassette songs, but I ended up doing, like, two thirds of an Advent Calendar of sloppy folky cassette songs: https://soundcloud.com/hlemke
