Hi,

in several hours only I go about 700km trip to the Atari "SV 2012" party, so I don't have much time to answer at the moment (have to go to sleep at last!! wink ) but maybe this would be helpful, at least in some degree:
http://atarimusic.net/forum/topic?f=124&t=113

Also the WAVE_to_Atari_XL prog:
http://yerzmyey.republika.pl/WAV_to_Atari_XL.zip

However it's probably better for Neotracker. But I'm not sure. Maybe MPT will handle this stuff too.
That's all I know at the moment, I hope it's useful somehow.

Greetzzzzzzzzz,
Y

Or - also what 505 said. That's because regular CoolEdit can save samples as IFF (supposedly unsigned would be better because the signed once have sometimes audible headers of the files).

I didn't notice this post before.
Well, if You consider using Atari ST/e with ST ProTracker, You can solve the samples' problem the way I did: You can use any Amiga or PC tracker, collect required samples, load them and save an 'empty' 4ch MOD file (with samples only). Then You can easily load the MOD into Atari ST/e, with normal standard PC diskette (720K). Then You can make Your music on Atari, having all the prepared samples available.

Tinctu:
How many more channels maxYMizer gives on STe?
On ST it has 3 of course, but on STe it has 5, if I recall? (3 for chiptune sound and 2 for digital sound)?
Surely 505 http://www.creamhq.de/ymrockerz could help here too.

Anywayz.
As for fully digital music, the STe goes with 8 channels ("Octalyzer" program) that later You can record with 50kHz great quality via a special player (STfm can go with 8 channels too - HEX-Tracker - but with audibly lower quality).

For making chiptunes, it would be enough to have some ST (520 or 1040) but minimum would be 1Mb in both cases.
For digital music, however ST fights well http://ym-digital.i-demo.pl/ , STe model will be better for a musician. Ah - and in this case 4Mb would be most desirable.

Hi.

Maybe somebody would be interested (we hope) to promote more Atari music -
there is a SounCloud group related with Atari music (also chiptunes of course),
established by Nativ:

What 505 said.

With a note, however, that we don't actually know what amount of RAM You have in the 520.

If You have only stock 512Kb, then MusicMon will not work (I've just checked it out). You'd need at least 1Mb.
But worry not - there is a special version of maxYMizer that works on 512Kb machine.

Still, I suspect You should have 1Mb after all.

________EDIT_______
If You'd prefer to use the Atari as a digital background for Your GameBoy, then You might also take a look to this small article -

Konnichiwa.

I was listening to the link http://chibitech.bandcamp.com/album/moe-moe-kyunstep
and I have to admit I liked the stuff. Actually I'm listening to it even now.

A question remains - has it been made on NES or is it any 'remix' on the modern hardware?

I wish You luck with Your next projects.

Mata ne.

Very good job dude.
As usual.

PS: Also "Pretty Eight Machine" is great, I didn't think anybody except me liked Nine Inch Nails, haha. Great job.

Hmmm. Really good, dude.
Would You care to provide some more tek info? Does it come from Atari 800XL? One pokey or more? Or maybe it's only a sampled pokey trackwed in some PC modern tracker?
Thx for sharing.

An-cat-max: Enjoy. wink wink wink

Domu: Thank You very much. smile (And good luck with the SpecialFX, heh wink ).

Domu:

Thx a lot, dude.

> And why was using the zx48k so hard? I thought you were the master of ZX AY music?
-----------------------------
Of music - probably not wink but maybe of 50hz synthesis. wink
The problem is - the zx48k here wasn't the AY case.

Without AY-interface, ZX Spectrum 48K has 1-bit transducer. BEEPER.
It can play any synthesis You want - but then the computer mostly doesn't keep tempo.
Tempo is a crucial factor while recording track-by-track, You know.

There are only 2 beeper engines keeping tempo fine - Orfeus and SpecialFX (it's almost the same engine actually because - as far as I know - the Ofreus is a Czech variation of SpecialFX).

It has only one tone (in 2 channels) and it's actually a very simple tone.
And using filters - You must have "something to filter-off". smile Not too much of it, in SpecialFX nor Orfeus. wink
And that's what I mean sayin': "using ZX48 as a synthesizer was the most challenging project in entire album". smile The biggest amount of work while post-production due the the simplest synthesis and the lowest sound-resolution (1-bit only).
The technical stuff.

Greetzzzzzzzz. smile
