so any word on midi devices/ software for the caanoo?

as i put in the piggy tracker thread, i was hoping for some kind of midi player for gp2x and piggy to midi, however given that its much more likely on the caanoo, given the usb host,id happily pick one up if theres some nice midi/ audio softwares in the works.

anyone round here got programming skills? wink

mk- drop all the snares into the project folder at the start, this way you can preview them in instruments and then compact instruments n the tempo/ load screen to get rid of any unused samples

oh yeah anyway, i forgot my main point- id love a gp2x midi playing program compatible with the piggy to midi, so that I could go write a nice long polyphonic pattern/ song in bhajis, export the midi to SD, swap it from the PDA into gp2x and play it into some portable synth.

tell me that wouldnt be rad! course it would.

well to be honest, its my lack of tracking skill that makes me wish for another way of using the piggy to midi. for example, the power or having such a midi capable sequencer in the pocket is amazing, but I write most of my piggy stuff using plof commands to jump around samples, actually tracking note by note to build up a composition like i would in ableton or bhajis i just find really difficult, hence id love to see just a basic basic app that could take a multichannel midi file and play it back.

obviously id lose a lot in the performance elements, but would be able to load up some midis ive recorded in anything and boom- play it back into a shruthi/ sammich combo and tweak out. i guess the trouble i have is efficiently building up soem of the polyphonic phrases id like to play back on the go using 16 step mono channels.

all you chipmusicians with a modicum of skill are probably crying HERETIC right now, and yeah i admit i just dont have the skills to do what id like with the piggy(+to midi!) Building up acid house mono sequences or crazy breakcore beat rushes on the other hand is amazingly simple, and why i ended up getting the gp2x and the interface in the first place.

I also thought that it might not be too difficult to get someone (or commission them to) working on a simplistic no frills midi playback app. I dont know how simple this would actually be like, as i am pretty damn noob. big_smile

wow yeah save as would be rad.

also, subway sonicbeat: yeah i know low-gain did, i bought me one and a gp2x. i was on a bout how it would be nice if someone could make some other piece of software that works with it. like i say, a trackers format is not really the best option for everyone.

what i really really want is a basic piano roll sequencer with midi out on multiple channels. something like the bhajis loops interface (that software is the only thing that stands up to the pig!) on gp2x running pig to midi would be an absolute wankfest.

xiamus' contraption sounds awesome!

i love piggy. I just want to be able to use piggy to midi fo more than just lgpt.

id pay someone to make a midi file player for the gp2x > pig>midi! i cant transcribe all my crazy shit into tracker format!

any hope in hell whatsoever of midi import  (cud just be monophonc midi files or something) ever becoming part of lgpt?
PLEEEAAASE

I have spent the last two days trying to get dump gfx to work, in order to dump graphics so as to play the larger roms.

Can anyone help me out as to how to get dumpgfx (on mac osx or windows xp) to work? I have follwed numerous forums to the letter, however the program just wont do anything.

im using mac osx 10.4 and xp sp2 through parrallels.

Failing all that, if anyone could actually make a graphics dump of garou motw, pulstar, and the last blade 2, id happily pay you for the time!

2 megadrive 2's, 2 nes's and 2 master sytems. a whole load of games for each.

im looking to swap some consoles maybe? interested in handhelds of all kinds, jaguar, you name it.

my consoles are all pal by the way. please help me get something a little more useful than copies of systems i already have!

some really nice pictures there fella. Id kind of like to see you develop them to finished compositions, atm they mostly look like sketches!

The groundtreemanthing is lovely in particular.

hope you can get some work!

so then, other than the sexy look, and easily avilible tv out cable (as opposed to gp2x- guh!) is there any reason to buy one of these?
ive already got a gp2x, wouldnt mind picking one of these up if theres likely to be something worth running on it.
any new music apps in the pipeline?

wow never realized pixel made some music software! awesome!

and from the one track i just listened to, this album is no doubt immense. chip arps and juno bass?! YUH!!
