Hehe.

We can assume he wants to stick to the NSF format for a personal reason, so it makes sense to give advice with that in mind. Otherwise, I'm sure he knows he has plenty more options if he's okay with using wavs or mp3s. Who knows, perhaps beyond his own music he wants a larger NSF library that's easily accessible. Sampling everything would suck!

? It's pretty, and impressive for breaking "rules" for the NES! That's what I say. smile

Quick update. I added some vertical (alternate column) scrolling and horizontal right-to-left scrolling.

Quite good fun this smile

Next update will be a lightwall coloured scroll text. Old school. big_smile

Wow this is sick.

Now all we need is an uber-cocky, amiga cracktro-like version with kickass music and some scrolling text like "brought to you by demon, the best of the best!! etc"

I talked to Alberto about this some more, he says the retro keyboard is comprised of samples from a couple casio keyboards, as well as hardware SID and NES recordings. Sweet!
Here's another link for it-

Yeah, I think you're stuck with moonshell. There's rockbox if you don't mind modding an ipod, but the quality of the nsf playback is pretty poor. Sometimes the noise is super loud... moonshell is the better of the two.

Ah, unfortunately it's been forever since I used moonshell. I put it on my DS at least 3 years ago and probably had an older version anyways, but I don't recall there being panning options available. I did make a nifty looking SMB3 themed skin for myself though -

Note the power meter as the progress bar! lol Anyways, sorry I don't have any useful information. big_smile

As far as panning goes, notsofatso is great for that! It has sliders for every channel including every expansion, giving you the most detailed panning control you could ask for (asides from something like envelopes that change, which would only make sense in a DAW anyways).

DSi only?

i'm guessing it'll only be available for download from the DSi Store hmm

I believe so. Although I think the upcoming 3DS will also have access to DSiware titles as well.
I hope!

This is a nifty, $2 piece of software coming out later this week in Europe and Australia. (US date 'tba')
Alberto Gonzalez worked on this, and I think it shows around the 1 minute mark... big_smile
That's probably him playing in the video actually, I'm not totally certain though.

If anyone here has HBO, check out Gasland. It premiers tonight at 9PM EST. A friend of mine did some filming and editing for it. It's about natural gas drilling and a process called 'fracking' which has left some communities devastated. It's a sad realization for what's often thought of as a cleaner and safer fuel source.

When filmmaker Josh Fox discovers that Natural Gas drilling is coming to his area—the Catskillls/Poconos region of Upstate New York and Pennsylvania, he sets off on a 24 state journey to uncover the deep consequences of the United States’ natural gas drilling boom. What he uncovers is truly shocking—water that can be lit on fire right out of the sink, chronically ill residents of drilling areas from disparate locations in the US all with the same mysterious symptoms, huge pools of toxic waste that kill cattle and vegetation well blowouts and huge gas explosions consistently covered up by state and federal regulatory agencies. These are just a few of the many absurd and astonishing revelations of a new country called GASLAND.
...
BACKGROUND
A major upswing in production took place in 2005 when the Congress and the Bush Administration exempted the industry and its new process of drilling, “Hydraulic Fracturing” from the Safe Drinking Water Act and many of our primary environmental protection laws. While the PR campaign for the Natural Gas industry promotes its product as “clean burning” it hides the fact that the new form of drilling, pioneered by Halliburton, is incredibly harmful to our environment and threatens to permanently contaminate a huge amount of the country’s water supply, create drastic air pollution conditions, and despoil huge areas. Despite overwhelming evidence of contamination, mismanagement and corruption, the general public remains unaware of the extreme effect the drilling may have on their lives.

Oh, and what the trailer doesn't really give away? There are proposed drilling sites that threaten potentially millions of people's drinking water. Not just isolated communities, but other little places you may have heard of like New York City and Philadelphia... sad

I wonder if blargg's insane color demo can be exploited in such a fashion-

25-40 is an ideal length for a normal set, with 30-35 being a pretty good cutoff if you're not headlining. There are exceptions, of course, but I feel like this is a pretty safe standard that applies to lots of music outside chip music. Most punk and indie bands going over 40 minutes would be overdoing it for a lot of settings.

I think, if anything, we were trolling ourselves! smile
But there will be a ROM posted by don at some point, hopefully soon!

A pretty cool lesser-known soundtrack is Otogirisou.

I think there are better songs off the soundtrack, but they don't seem to be on youtube. For anyone who likes orchestral-sounding SNES music like some of the Final Fantasy stuff, I'd highly recommend it.

^Yes that's awesome! That one effect around 46-48 seconds in is great.
