Thanks for your input guys. I tried swapping red and orange around. I still get nothing coming from the gameboy when I use the keyboard, but im not getting anymore strange behaviour on the gameboy either so that may mean this is correct. (unless someone is going to tell me strange stuff is meant to happen). Could the problem be that im using a musical keyboard and not a ps2? I'll check that there isnt something wrong with my midi cable too.

I'll try that tonight. And yeah thanks man, its not LED modded (my fingers are way too stubby to solder SMD components to fit in a psp slim) but i did put it in the case, gotten pretty good at re-housing psp's now

Re: Help with arduinoboy basics (27 replies, posted in Nintendo Handhelds)
Thats right, im powering the arduinoboy via usb as the dmg-04 cable only has 4 wires. The manual doesnt mention cables its just for doing a DIY arduino board, I just posted it incase someone noticed anything odd about the arduinoboy i am using
Glad to hear zombie backlight is normal. So Im guessing im just connected the wrong wires to the wrong pines on arduinoboy?

Hey, I know questions like these get asked all the time and I spent a few hours googling the answer (i might be terrible at googling though) so here it is:
I bought a lowtoy arduinoboy (See photo) and found the manual here http://www.lowtoy.com/shop/arduinoboy/Docu_EN_v2.pdf
I got a DMG link cable (I have a dmg 01, but the cable says DMG 04) but I am under the understanding that this should be fine, or if not i can just change the wires around. Connected blue to ground, green to A0, orange to A1 and red to A2 (See photo) following a diagram i found on google. I know I have flashed the arduino uno properly because when powered on it lights up in the expected pattern of green lights and the button works.
Unfortunately when connected to my DMG it activates the screen backlight while turned off, and when i turn it on i get lsdj freezing, and sometimes it just goes into live mode on its own and starts playing like their is a ghost in the room. Im guessing ive put the pins in the wrong wholes
Thought I'd see if you guys could educate me before i accidently kill my dmg
Cheers

Re: The apple music hype (10 replies, posted in General Discussion)
So im guessing you're looking for an apple music customers opinion and not the opinion of an artist who has music on there.
Apple music is kind of like spotify except that it is something that works natively on your apple device (iphone, ipad, itunes) as a service that is enabled as part of the music app, whereas spotify is an app that can be downloaded on either apple or android or windows devices, or run in a browser. They both offer searching, playlists, channels, etc. Spotify has a better social aspect with facebook integration.
As a customer Ive found that for what it is, i'd say its cheap and worth the money for reasons that are different to spotify. The advantages of apple music are that it integrates with your itunes playlists, and can be used in your home apple ecosystem (airplay on apple tv/other devices over wifi). You can save the music on your phone offline, you cant properly rip the music (same with spotify). The disadvantages are that I found it buggy in that it didnt always save music to my playlists, and sometimes would not connect or play at all without restarting my phone. You might say that its to be expected because its a new service though.
Spotify has the advantage that its more cross platform and has a web site version of the client, and that it is less buggy. You can also use spotify without paying if you're happy with the annoying adverts that sometimes cause the client to break. I ended up going back to spotify after a bad experience with my iphone 6S plus breaking, and apple music not saving my playlists properly even when it worked, but i may try apple music again in the future.

Re: C64 syncing question (6 replies, posted in Commodore Computers)
Thanks for the information, the sid-wizard/kerberos combination looks inviting, but there is the problem of waiting for the software to be built and ready. Is MSSIAH really that complicated? Ive mainly used goattracker so far to practise while waiting for the big payday

Re: Got 2 SID chips unused.. (5 replies, posted in Commodore Computers)
Well I already have a C64C, and I dont believe in removing them from the C64 unless the C64 is dead so ive got the challenge of finding a loose sid to put in a sammichsid or the closest most similar thing then use that in my chiptune setup

Topic: C64 syncing question (6 replies, posted in Commodore Computers)
Just got my C64C out of the attic and it is still working great. Pretty nostalgic opening the box and having all those flashbacks from like 25 years ago when I used to play games on it at my granparents place
Apologies in advance if this has been asked before (I can imagine its a popular question), but im trying to gather the hardware and software for a basic chiptune setup and am curious about syncing. I'd like to have the tracker software on the c64 play in sync with my DMG running LSDJ. I am to understand that this should be possible with MSSIAH, which I'll need to buy online, and this should work if I run the DMG with an arduinoboy.
Ive done some searching online but I havent found anything that specifically answers this question in this scenario, are there any problems i'll run into? Any hardware im missing?

Re: [WTB] Arduinoboy in EU (6 replies, posted in Trading Post)
These guys are based in Spain (I think): http://www.lowtoy.com/portfolio/arduinoboy-shield/
I'm in the US but I can ship you one. Seems shipping is about 13.50 USD standard to most places in the world. I'm out of stock right now, but should have more within the next week. Check it out: shop.catskull.net
Thanks, yeah Ive had a few things from murica but for me it depends on what you're buying because of that insane customs-charge (I think its like a quarter of the value of the thing being shipped) but its not an issue if the thing you're buying isnt too high value

Google'd around and havent been able to find a seller in the EU (unless im doing it wrong). If I cant find any im going to assemble my own but hoping to find a seller purely out of convenience
Please can you let me know what price etc, or link to a seller in the EU if you know one? I dont mind if its one thats just a pre-assembled DIY kit arduino as long as its tested and working
Cheers guys
