I just wish someone would answer the man with a legit answer so we can know for sure.

ashimoke replied with a link from nitro2k01 with tests and results of a gameboy running at 9v.

I tried feeding my known good Gameboy with 9V for a few minutes, with a moderate contrast setting, without any problems. However, it’s possible that the extreme positions of the contrast dial will slowly destroy the LCD, when the input voltage is >7 V. If so, it could probably be fixed by changing the control voltage range for the contrast dial.

I’ll have to investigate that further, but my preliminary conclusion is that you can feed the Gameboy with a 9V battery without problems.

what i think we could do is simply get a 9v battery and get a regulator in there. solved.

i feel obligated to tell you the rating system here means almost nothing and i wouldnt worry about it too much.

i wish that the rating system was similar to the 8bc's system.

i dont think it has to do with the frequency at all. possibly a dirty cart connector or something silly. can you test a different game besides tetris thats not on the EMS cart? also, after modding about 40 back PCB's about 3-5 of them were sour to start of with, there may be a possibility that the back pcb could be bad =/

You'll probably need some sort of op-amp to boost the signal if you want to drive an LED.

a guy walks into a bar and grabs a drink. the bartender asks, what will you have? the guy says, a dirty martini. everyone laughs at his drink order. he wonders why they are laughing, and they say that its not a mans drink. one man in the bar utters, that martini isnt as dirty as his wife when i had sex with her last night, and the bar goes crazy. the guy pulls out his gun and says, who said that, im gonna kill you! then a different man comments and says, you dont have enough bullets. hahaha

vex: shitty paint is like the 90 cent wallmart paint. go for maybe rustoleum, and maybe in a matte finish. you could use die cut circles, that would work great. also, you could use an exacto knife and cut circles on gator tape. you know i would dap some nailpolish over traces you wish to tap into later. then get a Qtip with acetone and be careful wink
