Is owning a full PA system really all that viable an option? hmm

I wouldn't say so.
But I always stress in my rider what sort of PA and Video equipment I precise fro the show. It is a requirement (except  on certain cases, I'm pretty lenient and consider the party and venue's limitations) to have good equipment and properly set up. This is not to be under looked, sometimes promoters hire the best equipment, but without an equally apt tech, they will be set up like shit.

Agreed, a good sound engineer is often overlooked by venues. A decent engineer can do wonders with a mediocre PA but a mediocre engineer can fuck up a good sound system in no time at all.

It's not really something I have given much thought to. I try to think in terms of what I can do to help other people when I can. I have a unique skill or two I guess. You know, spread the helpyness vibe around, hope everything works out ok. But I would feel almost guilty for trying to make a living or even an established presence for something I enjoy so much. Just write some tunes, see what happens you know?

My back up plan is find the richest record company exec I can an sleep with them. Either is fine, im not fussy or proud.

In general I kind of like the battle worn "drop down concrete stairs and had drinks spilled on them but still work" look my hand helds seem to acquire. Celsius will be furious when he sees how fucked my Cmodded (tm) machines look next time he meets me.

"Dave, did you let rhinos dry hump them or something?"

I am actually slightly ahead at the moment which I am most proud of. Major respect to all my fellow scalers! I am kind of curious which of your own songs you guys are happy with?

Suggest retitling thing thread and moving it to the awesome circuitbending forum.

Do it, Little-Scale is a hero, alternatively torrent it for a while? I get the feeling bandwidth will be high for a day or two. Thanks for putting this together man.

subsection seems a little lonely with only 2 small threads after a couple of weeks.

It worries me how organised you people all look.

Haha, you won't say that after you have spent 6 hours trying to change the resolution on some busted old laptop so you can see the whole screen for adlib. You will be "why didn't he tell me to just quit!"

But seriously there are a few opl3 fans here, Oxygenstar probably the most knowledgeable, throw up any questions and we will try and help. Also, watch o2*s tutorial on YT

I have a post in this thread which gives quite alot of opl3 laptops

http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/76/th … evolution/

Another thread here has some info

http://www.soundshock.se/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=350

And a trawl through the AD2 message board recommends a few more.

I have a Thinkpad 760-EL which has an opl3 chip and I like it alot. I would be prepared for a fair bit of hassle getting an opl3 laptop, you will probably have problems with drivers and screen resolutions and things.

A good bet is to find a likely looking laptop and look on the support page on the manufacturers website and find the manual then try and identify the chipset.

A good rule of thumb is anything made after the late 90s is almost certain not to have an opl3, Anything with a CPU over 500 mhz is also highly unlikely to have one.

I am a big CC fan but I thought I might throw this out there, are we going to force all uploaders to use CC?

Also, some interesting conversation about the NC license has happened recently.

And a great Article by Peter Kirn (related to images though)

I like the idea of a Delay command, I would find it really useful for adding swing and groove in tracks. Also I like the idea of a a more finely tuned kill command than just "note off" its especially useful for varying percussion.

I usually thought the kill command was a bit odd. I am used to have a "kill note" character that will do teh same but without using an effect.

Minikomi gets alot of value from the K command in LSDJ on metrodub. There are a couple of new tunes he showed me which should be out soon which are heavily based on D and K commands, lots of really interesting stuff. I think you will like it.
