There are two holes behind the output jack to wire in a speaker. Just go to a thrift store. Buy a speaker in a box for like 2-3$ (you can find great old ones in wood boxes for super cheap) and BLAMO amazing DIY amp that only needs a 9v battery.

sure beats looking up amp schematics on the internet and scraping around my room for parts

hmmm.... well every major buildup / breakdown i do tends to come around every 8 bars, so i like to be able to slice my chains to hold 4 bars, have little alternate melodies, alternate drums, mini 4 bar bass drops, etc.
though if i don't cue up the alternate chains right, i really fuck up the song

agreed with boomlinde, i can name very very few musicians in school for music theory right now who actually make good music on their own. years of theory definitely changes the way you think, i'm guilty of this as well a little bit, but whenever i hear someone with theory knowledge solo, they always go for modulations and key changes and just generally think of what to play in the most technical way possible to show off 'how good they are'
