sp is pretty noisy

this was all recorded with an sp, each channel was tracked separately, midi sync'd to pro tools with an arduinoboy. we really didn't feel like there was much noise at all.

man so jealous. this looks incredible.

i've never really used the regular GBA for music stuff, only the gba sp. maybe that's the difference?

GBAs are just noisy. It's something you have to deal with.

i havent really noticed that much more noise with my gba's than my regular dmg's.

all my first 8bc jams were made with reason.

Are making chiptune music videos a good idea?
I know 8bit trip was pretty impressive but I'm talking about the weird stuff like glitchy video from a NES and whatnot.
Reason I ask is because I'm having a local video artist, who likes glitch-type weird stuff  to make a video for one of my songs.

you should let us know after it's made whether it was a good idea or not and why.

Also Cheap Dinos should be able to play again by virtue of them being a full band now instead of just Dino.

This would happen in my perfect world.

i agree with all of this.

Great effort but im afraid the color cycling is a bit too much for me!

thanks, and i actually agree with this particular screen. it looks kind of lame when the speed is slower though. the problem is, the negative space comprises so much of the screen, so it is kind of overpowering when it's big like that. during the video, there are some glitchy areas where only tiny little pieces are color cycling and those aren't too intense at all. so yeah, i think it's mainly because of how much of the screen is pulsing.

thanks everyone else!

i just got a video capture device for my computer so now i can record video directly off of my NES on to my computer. i'm going to do a bigger post about all this soon but for now i just wanted to share the first video i recorded from it.

the NES is running a custom program that i half wrote (the other half i copied out of NO CARRIER apps). possibly seizure inducing due to fast color cycling.

anyone want to collaborate on some weird video project?

Actually, as far as I can remember we had no tools at all for SNES audio dev. I wrote all the drivers and conversion tools (sample converters and MIDI utils) for the games I worked on.

... can you release this software please
