Thanks, Nick!
Pinned it to the cpu just like on a Game Boy.
But you have to cut the input traces that lead to the SNES.
SO, I cut those and put switches in so you can switch back and forth from SNES controller to NES controller.
very neat. i might try this.

yeah, wow, that's really weird. i wonder if you left some stray solder somewhere and that caused it to glitch out.
i usually just yank the speakers out by hand. no need to desolder anything, in my opinion.

Re: Triforce Promo Video 2011 NEED YOUR THOUGHTS! (65 replies, posted in General Discussion)
I don't understand the concept of promo videos, to be totally honest. With all the effort that was put into this video, couldn't you have just made a music video for that song? Right now it's just like, "here's a short clip of some other thing that will come out at some unknown future date".
I think it's probably more helpful for a band at your level to put songs online before they start promoting themselves. Like, let's say I loved that promo video. What can I do now? Add you on facebook, I guess. Personally, I'd be more likely to buy your song immediately after I watched your cool music video than I would be to buy it at some unknown future date when I see some facebook status update letting me know that your album's been released possibly weeks after watching a promo video that included a short clip of one song that you say doesn't totally represent the sound of your band accurately. You know what I'm saying?
I don't even mean this as criticism of your video. I'm just sharing my personal view on promo videos and promotion in general. If this video works for you guys then that's awesome.

Re: Using LSDJ as a midi sequencer! (180 replies, posted in Nintendo Handhelds)
i have no idea if this is related to anything but i wanted to mention it here.
i upgraded lsdj to the beta version with the new midi out features. this was before i realized i had to upgrade my arduinoboy's programming too. anyways, i continue using this beta lsdj version for a while with no problems at all.
a week or two later, i'm playing a show and i decided to bust out my sync cable and play some of my 2xDMG songs. i can't remember for sure but i think the gameboy that had the beta lsdj on it was in slave mode. a few measures into the first song and the gameboy crashes. the screen just goes totally blank. i restart it and try again. same thing. i restart it again and all my songs are gone. SAV data is totally gone.
i have no idea if this is connected at all to the new version of lsdj that i was using but the problems only happened once i started trying to sync it to stuff. it was probably something else.

I'm really not trying to be a dick or anything about this, so I hope it's not coming across like that. I really do appreciate all the work you've put into this thing and I can't wait to finally get it and use it.
Yeah that's what I was thinking, because if Blargg reappears tomorrow, then it'll just be the delay of shipping, hah. I wouldn't mind having a useless but kind of awesome cartridge lying around until the software's ready
yeah, one way we'd get to use the things the day the software's ready to go. the other way would mean we'd have to wait for shipping. i'd rather get it asap.

Not a bad idea, but do you want hardware with no software?

Re: Blargg Bootstrap USB Cartridge: Famicom prototype & beta 1 built! (374 replies, posted in Nintendo Consoles)
Yup, everything is done, but I have a dilemma.
I haven't been able to get hold of Blargg for a couple of weeks now.
This is bad news, because the software has not been packaged for release and has no accompanying license. While I am fairly sure he'll opt for a GPL license, I have no way of being sure without asking him, which I haven't been able to do. I am loathe to release the fruit of his hard work without a license, since it's his work and I believe he deserves to choose how he wants to license it before release. Without his consent I really don't feel right about releasing this.
This has happened before. Blargg is a very private individual and sometimes he just needs to disappear for a while. I hope he'll resurface soon.
Soooooooo... no time table on when this might be shipped at all? Why not just ship the hardware NOW and then post the software for download whenever you finally hear back from blargg?

I just did this and it worked perfectly. I connected the ground pin and the pins for each button to the ground pin / buttons pins of the second controller. Then, when I pressed A on one controller, it came out of both controller cords. Works great!
