I'm officially requesting this convo to continue over at the bi weekly thread since I want to keep this one challenge based. Go team.

With my billion year backround in Progressive and Melodic Death Metal...I'm calling dibs on "Melancholy"

tongue

Let's not worry about it right now though.  When the time comes I'll set it all up (with input of course) and we can have at it.

Also, hard lol at "Hero you didn't expect to die music"

if I had a decent amount of time to work on it, I'd certainly love to do this

We'll use the comp as a jumping off point.
We can have some time to do it right.

Yeah I was thinkin...whatever we end up having...I may make it a two parter and have the next bi-weekly require it's participants to pick a theme (intro, character select, level, boss, victory, game over, credits, etc.) and I'll put it all together for an album.

Discuss.

Also this:  8bitrex(dot)tumblr(dot)com   I still need to tweak the layouts...but I posted a tip...have a look and tell me what you guys think!

Pro tip: common sense and contextual inference. Read / listen to what people are saying (here or on other chip- or music-related sites & forums, at shows, wherever), pay attention, and voilà, you'll soon find you're deriving a basic awareness of what people are talking about through the magic of intuition.

I came into this scene this past Semptember COMPLETELY new to electronic music.  Ever since forever ago in middle school I listened to post grunge, NWOBHM and a little bit later Scadanavian Deth Metal (those damn Swedes).  You really do just pick it up.  Listen to everything, especially songs that sound really different.  You'll get a sense of each mini-genre's style, sounds, tempo, blah blah blah.

Also...here...Google search: "Ishkur's guide to electronic music"
...You can thank me later tongue

Heehee...my first actual entry to my own comp...and the worst I could do is tie...and that's if EVERYONE voted for the same two entries.

If that happens...we both should just bone.

(Not playing favorites) 2PLAYER's songs blow me away every week so I agree with you Roctopus.  His Konami style is perfect and while I compose more industrial/hardcore/metal inspired tunes his sound like they are straight ripped out of a NES game.  We've got good diversity in this group.

Don't forget about the Bi-Weekly.  I WANT TO MAKE IT A FUCKING COMPILATION!

Wow.  I am REALLY liking this game.  I love the "punching a wall" mini-boost thing goin' on.  That was pretty clever.  The beginning bit where your character falls into the planet definitely got me hooked.

If there ended up being an Iphone version of this I'd be ALL OVER IT

Nice.  I think part of the reason why the Korg looks off is because of the strip of grey in the back as well as the "Korg"s angle making it look like it might be a vertical strip while the rest makes it seem flat.

What are birds? We just don't know.

Thank god you got the reference...otherwise I would have just sounded like I had Dementia.

Passt…lady gaga is actually pretty awesome with a piano. Just wish she marketed that and not what she currently does…

You can also get a gameboy emulator in the downtime. Plus the experience will make you appreciate even more LSDJ out of gameboy (it's much much better)

Also, search the forums for my weekly challenge and biweekly competitions (I use the term competition very lighty)

It may be tough to get inspiration when first starting to write, but I Garuntee you'll get some from the biweekly and the weekly challenge will definitely help the learning process. Plus the regulars are light hearted, fun and know their stuff. Check them out!

Trust me...opening that package will be like finding El Dorado...

Opening your SECOND cart down the line (to sync and have 8 channels) will start a period of "lossed time" after which you realize "oh shit...I've been LSDJing for 2 weeks straight!?"

- Donate to get LSDJ ---> http://www.littlesounddj.com/lsd/
- Buy a 64mb USB cart ---> http://kitsch.bigcartel.com/    or     http://www.nonelectronics.com/index.php
- Get at me for any help with setting it up or composing in LSDJ

Good luck and have fun!  Once you get into it...

you'll never be able to stop...

Edit: Damn...Spinning Voices beat me to it.
