Thanks for all the brilliant suggestions guys.  I have indeed heard many of your suggestions already and probably should have listed some of them in the original post...so sorry about that (even though I know we all love to talk about the music we like so I'm sure it's no big deal).  I'll be checking out the rest while doing my hurricane of math assignments...probably starting with Cheap Dinosaurs to help me cope with No Carrier's comment.

Oh god whoever said that needs a hard slap in the face.

I know my 64MB buzzes in my DMG as well (Tetris and Mario don't) and it does not buzz in my GBC.  Try a different handheld maybe.  I'm fairly certain LSDJ and DMGs are known to hum, but I could be wrong.

I can see how that automated bit would be really fun and it would be so cool to use, but I do have to agree with the different time zone point.  However if that was implemented, as long as someone who missed the time could go back and listen it would pose less of a problem...It would just be a bit disappointing.

8BC was closed, ostensibly for improper zoning usage. At the time, the event was widely rumored to have been prompted by the then-new nightclub the Palladium, whose owners had approached Conboy and Gattra about programming the Palladium's Michael Todd Room. The closure made the front page of the New York Times.

I see what ya did thar

Oh man the first is so good so far.  Thanks a ton.  Working on the rest of the suggestions as well.

don't take it insultingly...  Numan is a compulsion sometimes...

no no...don't get me wrong...I actually love Gary Numan...I just logic-ed it out in my head like: "Gary Numan...my stuff is kinda industrialish...this may be the opportune time..."

I have some Danimal Cannon on my Zune...It's great stuff.

Pwntendo was the very first tune that really got me into making music with my LSDJ...I heard some crazy "game music" coming out of a friends room and was like: "Oh shit this is exactly the genre I've been in the mood for how the hell haven't I thought to look into this before?"...It was Pwntendo and the start of a new hobby/obsession that may very well be the bane of my roommate and girlfriend's existence.

I played one of my songs (one I thought was my most well written) for my father a couple weeks ago during a visit home from my University...he stopped what he was doing...listened while I played the whole thing...said: "neat"...then went back to listening to Gary Numan.  Thanks, dad.

So I've always been a big fan of odd/complex time signatures, changing time signatures, changing tempos blah blah in the death, prog, melodic, experimental metal I listen to which is obviously not chiptune.  With that being said, anyone have any suggestions for songs of the chip variety that fall into those previously mentioned details?  Also if anyone is up for it I'd be curious to hear some weird stuff...so if you know or have written a song that you consider to be weird or just overall radically different, go ahead and post a link.

PS: After looking back I hope people (mis)read it as "death-prog-melodic-experimental metal" so I can seem even more like a pretentious douchebag...which I swear I'm not big_smile

Since I have only been using LSDJ for 6 months (and most of my friends here at the Uni. enjoy my stuff) I haven't had much time to get put down.  However, one time, while chilling outside on our building's abnormally large fire escape, I was having my once-a-day cig and listening to music on old computer speakers I had duct taped together to form a portable unit.  Some chick passing by looked up and yelled "THAT SHIT SOUNDS LIKE ROBOTS KILLING EACH OTHER"...and at first I laughed cause that's not necessarily a bad thing.  But then I saw her face and she looked legitimately angry.  I don't even know why.  The speakers weren't playing the chip that loud and I wasn't like...spitting on her or anything.  It was ridiculous.  I wouldn't have even told this story if it wasn't for how absolutely offended she looked...as if I had worn a pink suit to a funeral or something.

I'd say the only thing about streaming them in a thread is everyone would know who's song is who's...and if we want to keep the whole anonymous thing I don't think it'd work since making a new profile or whatever to post them would be even more of a hassle and there'd be no concrete evidence of who submitted what.  Possibly PM's with the songs and a thread for the votes.  Would be a bit easier on someone's inbox.

I've just now navigated around Botb and once I get over how much of a clusterfuck it looks like to me I'm sure it's really rad.  I like the idea that if something like that was done on this site it'd be a bit closer knit.

Don't overthink it, this is easy.

Host opens a thread with the theme. Competitors PM link to tunes before deadline. Host packs tunes with tags stripped and puts link to pack (any upload site will do) in thread. Voters PM votes to host. Host compiles results after voting deadline.

What else is there to consider?

What if voting was only open to participants, then you would have time, and you wouldn't have to worry about vote begging .  That would make it even more like botb though hahah.

I'd say the only thing about that is its not much of a competition (however friendly) if theres only a small number participating and in turn voting.
