Hi,

If anyone is selling or does not no longer need a  Roland Mx-5 please let me know.

--

Also if anyone is selling a Prosound Gameboy/w- backlight please let me know.

Thanks

Have an issue with a mixer I used, Channel 1/2 and 3/4  volume's sliders no longer work very well.

Whenever I slide the volume slider up or down the left phono is still silent at times even with the volume up while the right phono is fine. Only when wiggling the Volume slider does the left phono switch back on, this can create tiresome instances having to reconnect the phono every time sliding the volume slider and unequal volume levels to the other channels.

Channels 5/6, 7/8 work fine.

I took the equipment apart and cleaned it, though unfortunately it still stutters in volume whenever I touch the slider.

Has anyone else encountered this issue before with stuttering/broken volume sliders?

Thanks

Wall outlets may be tricky to find in outdoor spaces.

Alternatively have you looked at battery powered amps?

Try to clean up your your sav-file with the LSDJ-Manager.

I saw you got empty songs in your songlist, that can cause glitches, specially in handling.

If there are some numbers visible in LSDJ-Manger where should be an empty song. It wasn't erased correctly and can cause problems.

Of course key delay/repeat settings could be the problem as well. (As mentioned before by herr_prof)

Thanks will try that too. I didn't know that having empty songs in a songlist could also cause glitches too.

Maybe your key repeat settings got corrupted?

Thanks, it could be that. Can't access either at the moment though will update if able to to fix it.

LSDJ just crashed on a Gameboy, normally resetting the device it would work as normal though this time it was weird.

Every time I press up or down, right or left  the program moves in twos in song/live mode instead of ones. This makes it nearly impossible to select certain chains I made skipping them automatically. This even occurs on song load mode which some saves are unable to be reached because it moves up and down in twos.

Tried it on different consoles to see if that would fix it though the same thing occurs. Luckily have a backup though wondered if anyone else encountered this issue before?

- Blurry quality sorry

Thanks

Tl:dr:- Gameboy crashed though permanently now moves in twos instead of ones

A visit to Cafe La Siesta - May 2015:-

I thought I'd share this experience with everyone, this is a personal account of my own visit to Cafe La Siesta, it doesn’t represent or reflect a voice as a whole of the UK chip scene itself.

Amongst sight-seeing and gaining experience for my own personal development I travelled to Japan in pursue to see and experience what the chip scene in Japan was like. I had heard before about this particular cafe called ‘Cafe La Siesta’ based in Kyoto, Japan which is known to of hosted numerous of domestic and international music acts throughout its time.

Cafe La Siesta is a video game cafe and music venue which lets you play a range of retro video games for mostly free of charge and also hosts regular bi-weekly chip music and electronic DJ’s events. The cafe itself has existed for 12 years founded by artist Master Khosta which seems to of been a base and forefront for  Japanese and international chip music scene ever since.

Master Khosta:- https://soundcloud.com/djmasterkohta

The cafe itself is a small but packed cafe snuck away down from the waterfront of Sanjo station or a walk eastwards from Shijo station which eventually after walking down a narrow alley you’ll eventually reach Cafe La Siesta. Walking from Shijo station took a while to find the cafe though it was worth it, the utmost excitement and joy having travelled so far by myself literally the other side of the planet to finally reach this destination was rewarding itself. I had two hours to wait till it opened though didn’t mind, peering through the glass window itself like a child looking through a window of a candy shop.

The bar is full of video game memorabilia, consoles to play on, cds, stickers and merchandise for purchase and even vegan food; which if you’ve ever visited Japan you’ll find that the amount of  food options even for vegetarians is limited to null.

Also worth a brief mention was spotting a DJ mix CD by DJTEN, a Japanese DJ and chip music artist in Japan who passed away last year. I personally had never met him in person and only talked to him briefly online though was truly shocked and saddened to hear when he passed away at the time.

Both the people who run it and people who come here are really friendly, warm and welcoming. They’ll usually be chilling out playing some video games, even ask you if you’d like to join in a game or will be dancing to some stellar chip music or dj mixes that’s being played there.

In addition to this there’s neither quite a place like Cafe la Siesta outside Kyoto or on this planet. Even if you’re not a fan towards this kind of music music I think people can at least appreciate the Cafe’s concept and platform of a space which plays underground and independent electronic music. There’s numerous of games to play on too (Famicomi, Sega, Snes, Gamecube and Gameboy’s to name some) with more videos games to play on than you can mash your thumbs with.

In comparison to England, particularly the North such a foundation or place has never existed in the same way or form. From what I experienced there were specific music events, known acts such as Syphus along with small venues such as The Cooperage and independent music groups such as ‘Rollies 4 Mice’ which put on local Gabber and Breakcore events (I was only 15/16 at the the time) though never really a concentrated base for chip music itself. Personally for this reason and  my own background it was simply grateful and an appreciation itself just to have been able to reached this far and be able to visit the cafe itself.

Present on the night was an artist known as Yushix who was really nice and played a canny set of dance music before tuning towards more upbeat melodic music. Briefly chatting to Master Kohta the future of Japanese chip music if not already seems to be branching out towards a wider spectrum of electronic music using computers and sequences to make music with while a core following may still use consoles to produce music with.

Overall Cafe la Siesta was an uplifting and inspiring experience itself making further connections and networks with people here. In future it would be nice one day to look at recreating and starting something similar within the UK. It's going to be a hard one saying goodbye this canny place in just a day or so coming up.

I've tried this one a few times. Not sure If I'm doing something wrong.

I downloaded it, and installed it into Applications. I open the read me and it says

On Mac, prior to building you must install pkgconfig and libusb from
ports, like so:

sudo port install pkgconfig
sudo port install libusb

(thanks to hyarion for this info)

Am I going wrong somewhere?

So, there's a program which runs on Windows to back up a 64mb usb EMS cart:- http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/usb-64m-smart-card

There's even now a program which runs on Android to back up a 64mb usb EMS cart:- http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/15904 … 64m-carts/

Just curious when will a standalone program be made to back up a 64 EMS usb cart on a MAC/OSX OS? Surely it can't be that hard to create if it exists for the programs above?

Thoughts.etc?

Been waiting years for someone to make a Mac app for 64 EMS carts. But now this is out I'll give this a try as I don't have a Windows computer. This is great.

@CS: it doesn't manage kits _yet_, but I'd like it to eventually. I'll put it on the to-do list.

Just found out, the LSDj Patcher .Jar file works on Mac - if that might save you more time.

Nice, hope it goes well!

Will it be able to to possibly manage custom kits too? Really tired of having to use others computers and/or get over the official windows signature from more update versions of windows when something like this for mac should also be available.

^^ there talkin bout it here right?

Didn't see that. cheers. I'll close this thread.

I know there exists a way of using terminal to back up LSDJ on a Mac though it's quite tricky. (I myself have been unable to successfully back it up that way)

There has to be an easier way if it doesn't exist yet. I wondered what kind of process would need to go into building a standalone application that you could download for Mac to be able to back up a sav file from an EMS cart. Maybe also a separate application too for Sample managing and song file managing.

Currently don't have time right now to do so though wondered what others think of the idea?

herr_prof wrote:

Run it on a GBC or GBA system will help. Also consider upgrading to later versions of LSDJ as they are much better at CPU heavy tasks. Doing lots of Sample Manipulation is one of the most CPU heavy tasks you can do.

Thanks for the info, didn't know a GBA/GBC could help run it a bit easier or that the version of LSDj could also help.  Think I've got version 5.05, unless it's been updated since then again. I'll give these a try.

Has anyone had any freeze/freezing issues with LSDj? Particularly higher tempos and when using chains which contain a lot of tables, kits and notes all at once?

I think it's to do with a memory or processing overload/error so I thought I'd ask on here and wondered if there were ways around it.

I checked here and read that it's to do with how much information is being put through. Though I wondered if there were other ways around than stripping down a track itself in order for it to operate.

In relation to my question:- I've been making a track which variates between around 130bpm and 200 though whenever I use two sample kits at 200 it just freezes up completely and the only way I can stop it is by switching it off which shouldn't be right.

It only freezes up at a high tempo when the chain with the custom kit plays so I think it's something to with that.

I remember reading a post on 8bc I think at the time discussing  a similar issue about it and how changing to the Groove is possibly a way around it.
