All of that stuff is mostly sample based, so any mod tracker or soundfont type instrument will get you in the ballpark. If you list a specific tune you want to sound like it would probably help us narrow down your direction.

Nope, only .sf2, and only sized up to the amount of ram your device has.

Chipcrusher is exactly what you need, try it a little more. You can turn off the speaker stuff if you want. All the chips you mention are really just sample based, so mess with that some more.

It's just a trs 2.5mm stereo headphone jack.

Beats me! I would personally go even further and just make a db9 connector with midi and audio out sticking out the bottom, then you can have a custom length cable with your various outputs, or use the headphone jack.

Re: Arduinoboy, pitch mod and PS/2 socket question (5 replies, posted in Nintendo Handhelds)
1) The pitch mod controls the global pitch of the chip, and is unrelated to midi notes. If you did the pitch mod, and then controlled the device via midi, the notes would be different with the mod enabled.
2. The arduinoboy emulates the ps/2 mode , as well as gives you the ability to control the dmg over midi. ps/2 mode is the only way to play notes into LSDJ. The ps/2 socket is only better if you want to avoid using a arduinoboy. Its a simpler mod with less parts.
There is always the tacomidi approach, where you have the midi i/o come out via trs stereo mini jacks, and then have a specially modified cable that terminate in regular din midi connectors.

That would require that you're in live mode so that the two gameboys can play from different song positions right? I never use live mode so I'm not positive that's how it works.
yea

it seems good, but honestly I have had tons of hours testtime for it in the last few months. I'm more worried about Unix and OSX.

Re: LSDJ SYNC SUGGESTION: CROSSFADE (22 replies, posted in Nintendo Handhelds)
Ok then why not just have the the master game boy have a blank SLAVING chain that controls the tempo of the slave gameboy, and have the slave gameboy play a blank row when the master is doing this thang?

Re: LSDJ SYNC SUGGESTION: CROSSFADE (22 replies, posted in Nintendo Handhelds)
No i mean youd have to program some logic in lsdj that would say OH IM NOT A SLAVE NOW IM MASTER, which makes it slightly more complicated. You could also just have a full time MASTER DMG slave two slave dmgs if you really wanted to get fancy.

Its supposedly uber stable, but I suspect some platforms are way more tested than others.

Yea but how would you prevent feedback loops? Youd have to poll cycles that listen to for clock and decide if that dmg is slave or master. You could just as easily save the state in the song, and load it when you load the song.
