I haven't found a reliable method of chiptune dating that doesnt significantly destroy the source sample.

Midi master means lsdj sends clock out and live is a slave to the tempo generated by ableton.
Midi slave means the opposite.

This is really nanoloops true form. So much more fun than the gameboy versions.

Consider me intersted!

Now that this is released are you still planning to make osx versions?

Ableton doesnt really clock great as a midi slave , in my opinion. You should see if your arduinoboy works in SYNC MAP mode:
http://code.google.com/p/arduinoboy/
SYNCMAP - Lsdj will sync to incoming MIDI sync, and notes immediately change the song row #.

And then you setup a midi channel to the midi port lsdj is connected to in Ableton, then load a EXTERNAL INSTRUMENT rack, and select the correct mode in your LSDJ sync settings in the software and arduinoboy. Then LSDJ will work just like a vst plugin does, more or less.

Dont edit during playback on osc instruments big_smile

No because the CPU speed is clocked off that crystal. You clock it slower, it thinks slower affecting everything from reading the joypad inputs, to drawing the screen, to controlling the PAPU sound channels. Its like running a cassette tape slower, the pitch is lower but so is everything else.

The CPU is doing all the thinking, so if you put a crystal in it, its working slower on everything, including the time it takes to think. Pitch halving is a bonus, but the resulting speed decrease is problematic in other places like drawing the cursor on the screen.

a cool thing about the bgb link is that it works via localhost to another synced copy. Not sure what lag would do to your music sync though.

Yea but with a lobotomized cpu, v commands may very well cause crashes as they can be very cpu intensive.

Another thing people may not realize is how much music theory you know already intuitively from years of listening to music. Even if you are unaware of what you are doing, the minute you are copying a song or motif you've heard in your daily life, you are applying music theory to your works.

I see a lot of threads about mixing here, and this article has a lot of interesting points about layering to fatten your mix that applies even to the tracker world:
